Wrapping Up Myrtle Beach 2006

I don’t feel too sad about wrapping up our great Myrtle Beach trip of ’06, because as this is being posted, I am currently well into another week in Myrtle Beach. We spent our last day, Friday, August 5, mostly at the Windy Shores condo. I mentioned earlier that this condo holds more great memories for me than the Links, because of some great trips I spent here in the late 80’s and the 90’s with Christi and Lisa (not at the same time!) – and Ashleigh when she was little.
Bob and I set out for Nevada at an ungodly hour on Saturday morning, February 10. I had been up for 24 hours straight the day before and had only gotten about four hours sleep, and yet we were up ready to face the day and our strict schedule at 6:00 am. It was about a four hour drive from Bob’s house in San Bernardino to the Hoover Dam. We quickly stopped off for my favorite ham and swiss pastry that I get whenever I’m there and we headed out. 
As I think back to the year of seventh grade at Ankeney Junior High, most of my memories turn toward my new friend Jeff Flinn (or Jeffrey as I knew him at first). Eric Welch had been my best friend in sixth grade and we had a wonderful and memorable trip to Florida during the Summer of ’84, but things went sour following that trip and we eventually parted ways during the seventh grade year. 
Here are the next two postcards in this series from my Grandpa’s trip through Colorado in 1937 that were written the Summer before he married my Grandma. The first one was written on Sunday, August 15 after touring through Boulder. The second was written first thing Monday morning once he had arrived in Estes Park. My Grandpa’s brother Virgil was accompanying him on this trip through Colorado, and I’m betting it would have been a fun trip to be on.
