Jonathan Winters: Fellow Buckeye

I continued down my It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World autograph collecting path by sending a request to Jonathan Winters on August 14, 1985. I had a sneaking suspicion that I would have success with Mr. Winters, as he had replied to Carl Ahlm with a signed photo and actually agreed to be an honorary member of our Sons of the Desert tent in Springfield. The attraction of having him as a member was that he was originally from Springfield, Ohio. In fact, the funeral service for George’s Dad was actually held in a former home of Jonathan Winters. On Friday night, immediately following the taping of 
On Thursday, August 3, 2006, Mom, Ashleigh, Briana, and I spent our evening at Barefoot Landing in Myrtle Beach. While trips to Barefoot Landing for me are usually mediocre at best, this one was quite fun – especially due to the fun I had with Ashleigh and Briana. The Landing itself is simply an outdoor shopping mall, with various attractions of distraction strategically planted around the complex.

I’ve always loved looking at old postcards. The pastel-like painted colors and the fountain-tip pen scrawl across the flip side – if the card happened to be filled out – both ring incredibly nostalgic.
