Easter 2007 – and Denise’s Birthday
Monday, April 9th, 2007
Easter Sunday fell on April 8th this year – Denise’s birthday. It was the first time since 1928 that this would happen. Remarkably, it will happen again in 2012 – five years from now – but then will never happen again in Denise’s lifetime. So glad I had the chance to share that with y’all. The other strange thing about this Easter was that it was freezing cold outside – literally. There were snow flurries coming down as Ashleigh and I headed out to Darlene and Bob’s in Miamisburg for this year’s gathering. It was just earlier this week that I was taking walks around our neighborhood in shorts and a t-shirt. Only in Ohio could we go from 80 to 18 in less than a week! Read the rest of this entry »
Denise had just left for a week at Camp Woodland Altars on July 1, 1990 – the day before we were notified that Oscar had passed away. Oscar was the second husband of my Grandma Range, having married one another on July 17, 1970, the day before my parents were lawfully united themselves. He had been diagnosed with a form of Alzheimer’s disease, referred to as Sundown Syndrome, a couple of years pror to his passing. This disease struck worse during the evening hours, although as it progressed, he became equally as confused during the day.
There were lots of milestones in Grandma Range’s life during 1990. The first of these was, of course, her first great-grandchild being born on
Mom and I spent the better part of last weekend (3/3 and 3/4) visiting with Aaron, Denise, and of course my superstar nephew Adam. We didn’t get going until about 2:30 pm on Saturday afternoon, but we arrived in plenty of time to get some quality Adam exposure. We all went out to eat at Las Margaritas, a Mexican restaurant (obviously) where Adam slept through most of dinner. After we returned back to the house, we all marveled at Adam as he was fed his traditional nightly rice dinner and was bathed.
