Last night we had our annual Halloween party, which, because it was delayed by a week until after the holiday actually occurred, was transformed into a family ‘game night’ with costumes optional. Everyone opted not to wear one. We’ve had some great costume gala affairs with haunted house, scavenger hunts, and hayrides – but this one was a mild family get-together. Continuing with my diary from 1980…
March 1 – I got up and watched “Little Rascals.” (we didn’t tape it. it was a half-hour show on Saturday). The I went to Kenny’s house. We talked I came home and watched “Pardon Us.” Then I made a old car. It was a project for school (our program) (mine and Sunil’s) Then we watched “Bohemian girl.”
It’s maddening sometimes to put things from your early life into perspective. Most of the scant memories are fuzzy …and yet particular moments come into view looking crystal clear. The sights and smells overtake you and you can replay that very minute over and over again. But you cannot travel beyond that moment’s borders nor can you turn your head and look in another direction. Read the rest of this entry »
The last three nostalgic photo entries I have made are of my Dad or from his side of the family. Not playing favorites, his photos are more unique because of the uncharacteristic use of color for the 1950’s and early 1960’s. But of course black and white photos have their place, too. Here’s a few great shots of my Mom from the Summer of ’61.
