Agent 13 Pops Up Again

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

The novelty of meeting Dave Ketchum will likely escape those readers who have never watched Get Smart. It’s true that his faced popped up often in a variety of sitcoms – including but not limited to The Andy Griffith Show, I’m Dickens, He’s Fenster, That Girl, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Green Acres, The Odd Couple, Alice, Mork & Mindy, Happy Days, and Perfect Strangers. But for all of the popping up he did in these shows, these roles pales in comparison to the way that he popped up in Get Smart in (ironically) thirteen episodes of the series. Freberg Isn’t Free

Tuesday, May 29th, 2012

I had long looked forward to meeting Stan Freberg at the Hollywood Show on April 2, 2011, whose fascinating career has spanned over six decades and whose work includes (but is not limited to) writing, drawing, puppeteering, voice-overs, acting, advertising, and stand-up comedy. His works might be frequently seen in the early days of MAD Magazine. His comedy recording of Saint George and the Dragonet was an audio satire which became a rare non-musical performance that reached #1 on Billboard record charts. His face graced the film It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World which was ironic since despite being known for his voice-work, the deputy sheriff character he played  remained totally silent. Silas Turns One

Friday, May 25th, 2012

The love that one has for their grandchild is unlike any other, so I was particularly pleased to be having the big celebration for Mr. Silas’ first birthday at my house. Although his official birthday wouldn’t be until the next day, Ashleigh opted to have the party on Saturday, May 5, 2012. Her Mom and I chipped in with her to help cover the pizza, and I was sent off to the store to pick up the giant Winnie the Pooh cake that morning. Christi and Ashleigh decorated the house with streamers and balloons and the guests started to roll in around 2pm. They also thoroughly cleaned the house so that the cat dander wouldn’t disturb Adam’s allergies too bad. Read the rest of this entry »

The Death List Two

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

Quentin Tarentino films are somewhat of an acquired taste to be sure, and I happen to be one of those that enjoy them immensely. I found it to be quite cool to get the chance to meet a trio of Tarentino stars at the Hollywood Show on February 12, 2011. I have already discussed Jackie Brown starlet Pam Grier here.  Each of his films has its own unique and artistic merits, and the two-part opus Kill Bill Part 1 and Kill Bill Part 2 were certainly no exception. The remaining two celebs whom I encountered at the show were part of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad from those films. Read the rest of this entry »

Walt Disney World 2012: Magic Kingdom

Monday, May 21st, 2012

It had been a bit of a rough night to get through since both Silas and I had colds. I did some snoring and Silas did quite a bit of waking up. But regardless of our exhaustion and colds, it didn’t stop us from making the most of second day at the parks of Walt Disney World on Monday, April 16, 2012. Unfortunately, we didn’t get off to that great of a start that morning. I had decided in advance not to try and run around the parks like a madman, sucking in every ride opportunity possible. For one reason, I had been visiting the Disney parks a lot lately, so it was easy to be more accommodating to what the others wanted to do. For a second reason, I’m just getting older.
