Juliet Landau is a highly gifted actress who was born of actors Martin Landau and Barbara Bain. I was particularly excited to meet her when she made an appearance at the October 4, 2008 Hollywood Collectors Show in Burbank, mostly because of the role she created one of my all-time favorite modern shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She also reprised the same role throughout the run of its spinoff series Angel. Read the rest of this entry »
Of the myriad of celebrities I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in recent days, one of the greatest thrills was getting to meet Carroll Spinney. You might know him better as the puppeteer and voice of one of the most endearing residents of Sesame Street, Big Bird. Although the costume was originally created by Jim Henson and his puppeteers, it was Spinney who stepped up in the plate and operated Big Bird from within and developed his voice and character. In addition, Carroll Spinney also voiced and operated Oscar the Grouch from within the trashcan – all the way back to his earliest days, when he used to be orange rather than green.
I don’t frequently hand out gushing compliments regarding a female celebrity’s attractiveness, unless I am sufficiently open-mouthed, all-out wow’ed. And Nancy Allen was just such an example of a gal who had what it took to make me stutter over my words. I found her throughly attractive at age 58…and I told her so. She seemed genuinely grateful for the compliment and told me sincerely that it was a ‘very nice thing to say’ to her.
I spent my last full day of my California “Dreams Come True” trip in chilly Lone Pine, California, enjoying our final day at the 19th annual Lone Pine Film Festival on Saturday, October 11, 2008. We got up bright and early and left our motel in Independence at about 7:30am. A return visit to the Alabama Hills restaurant kicked off the day, where this time I went for the generic bacon and eggs while Bob stuck with the Eggs Benedict.
Hank Garrett had been on my list of autographs to get for some ten years, starting way back when he first start appearing at collectors shows in the 1990’s. For one reason or another, I never ended up getting his autograph because he either didn’t show up or Bob forgot to pick it up. So I had pencilled him in yet again when he was scheduled to attend the Collectors Show in Chicago on March 21, 2009.
