He’s Mosely

Tuesday, October 11th, 2016

bill2In this case I’m not referring to Alonzo Mosely, the ever-frustrated lawman from the film Midnight Run, but rather the real Mosely. That is, Bill Mosely. Now I mean no offense to Mr. Mosely (the real one) when I say that sometimes celebrities show up so often at autograph shows that I end up getting them just to get them crossed off the list of potentials. And sometimes their names starts to become so familiar because they appear at so many shows, when I really don’t know much of their work after all. This applies, on both counts, to this actor.  Read the rest of this entry »

Hey Hey It’s the Final Monkee!

Thursday, September 29th, 2016

mn3I must say, I never thought it would happen. Up until recent days, it seemed that Mike Nesmith was by far the most elusive of the Monkees. Although he had returned to playing live with the band now and then after Davy Jones’ death, and I had known that people had gotten backstage to meet them, I didn’t foresee myself shelling out those kind of big bucks, much less even attending a concert. Then when I heard that he had been announced for the Spring 2015 Chiller Theatre show that I normally attend, I sort of hit the roof. And not in the good way. I had already committed to being at Disney World that week and had already accepted the fact of missing the show, and missing a smattering of celebs I wanted to meet, chief among them Michael Nesmith.  Read the rest of this entry »

Rocco as Rocco

Thursday, September 29th, 2016

ddr6My cousin Chris and I watched the move The Boondock Saints around Christmas of 2009, but it didn’t stick with me enough to ever be too thrilled about the celebrity shows that had reunions of the film, usually including Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flannery, and David Della Rocco. I did pick up Flannery at one such show because of some his other works, bypassing the other two. Reedus naturally took off toward the stratosphere of popularity once The Walking Dead took off, but David Della Rocco usually didn’t command much in the way of lines… or money.  Read the rest of this entry »

Throwback Manager

Friday, September 9th, 2016

cornette1Wrestling manager Jim Cornette and I did a remarkable job of missing each other. It seemed his career swirled and slithered around my interest in wrestling, but we never stopped at the same place. While I was watching Georgia Championship Wrestling and early World Championship Wrestling in the early 1980’s, he was working in Mid-South Wrestling. My interests had mostly moved on by the time he arrived in the WCW. Then in the late 90’s whem my interest re-blossomed during the WCW/nWo era, he was working the WWF. It wasn’t his fault and it wasn’t my fault. It’s just the way it was. Read the rest of this entry »

Who Were Those Masked Men?

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2016

pd5My track record for meeting the leading actors and actresses from the original Star Wars films had thus far been pretty darn good. Besides Mark Hamill, Kenny Baker, and of course Alec Guinness, there were only two of the so-called leading characters whom I was waiting to meet. I have no hope of meeting Guinness since he’s dead, and my hopes aren’t gigantic for Hamill. And they weren’t all that huge for the other two: David Prowse, who was the man behind the Darth Vader mask (voiced of course by James Earl Jones, whom I have actually met… but not gotten a photo with), and Anthony Daniels, who had not only played C3PO in the original three films, but actually has become the only performer to reprise his role in every one of the films – including the eighth installment currently in production.  Read the rest of this entry »
