Live Long Enough and Eventually Prosper

Thursday, February 9th, 2017

Over the years I have kept the readers of this website apprised of my ongoing quest to assemble autographs/photos with the main cast of the original Star Trek series. Not too terribly much be said about that as I’ve said it all before. The last update was back in 2012 when I was able to get a photo op with William Shatner, as can be seen here. You’ll note if you look at it, I ended it with the wish that I might finally get the chance to meet Nichelle Nichols, which would effectively put this particular quest to a close. Sadly James Doohan and DeForrest Kelly both passed away before I ever got the chance to meet them. And in days since that posting, Leonard Nimoy passed away in February of 2015 as well. I was much, much luckier with him. Read the rest of this entry »

Hot Pippi

Tuesday, January 24th, 2017

When I was a boy about five or six years old, my Mom used to take me to the movies to see the ‘latest’ installment of the Pippi Longstocking films. It was probably only once or twice, but it seemed like we went to see them a lot. I loved Pippi and her sense of frivolity, and I’ve since reconnected with the movies via DVD and had some vivid memories and some of the scenes, and still enjoyed the whimsical fun. I didn’t know it then of course, but interestingly these were actually Swedish TV series episodes from the late 1960’s that had been strung together. I would love to meet the original Pippi, Inger Nilsson, as well as the actor and actress who played the young Tommy and Annika, but so far that has yet to be.  Read the rest of this entry »

The Fate of Alice Garvey

Wednesday, November 16th, 2016

alice1Fans of Little House on the Prairie typically remember the show as fun and at times whimsical, but also will recall being moved to tears on many occasions. In fact at times the trials that the Ingalls family and their friends could be downright horrific. Perhaps there was no other storyline that even approached the anguish as the Season 6 episode when Albert inadvertently started a fire in the school for the blind. Jonathan Garvey’s wife Alice went up in flames as we watched her desperately try to beat her way out of the window holding Mary Ingalls’ baby, who also perished. Read the rest of this entry »

A Bob of Her Own

megan3I was excited to meet Megan Cavanagh when she appeared at the Hollywood Show on July 9, 2016. In the past, I have been similarly excited to meet cast members of important shows to me, only to find that they didn’t bring any photos along of said show. In a couple of cases, this caused me to bypass them altogether. This wouldn’t happen now as I’d simply go for the photo op. But fortunately that wasn’t the case here. Megan’s claim to fame to most fans was the fact that she portrayed Marla Hooch in the successful 1992 film A League of Their Own. Then she reprised the character when the series got its own TV sitcom with the same title. Read the rest of this entry »

Prince Greg

cdb5Sometimes an actor’s credits are so neck-and-neck equally important to me that I have a hard time deciding which photo to buy (that is, if I don’t go ahead and just buy both ie. Patty Duke, Mark Metcalf, Anthony Michael Hall, Veronica Cartwright, etc.). On this particular occasion though, I forced myself to make a choice when I met Christopher Daniel Barnes at the Knoxville Fanboy Expo on June 6, 2015.  Read the rest of this entry »
