Make no mistake. It’s never exactly a cakewalk getting to and from Los Angeles. And thanks to the folks at American Airlines and their seeming inability to keep a flight schedule, the getting to and fro was downright miserable this time around. But even with all of that crap, it was still wonderful to get away from Ohio and visit time with an impressive number of good friends in the western portion of America. Read the rest of this entry »
Quite easy on the eyes, Shannon Elizabeth was a no-brainer as to whether I was going to shell out the cash to get a signed photo and pose for a picture with her (even at $45 for the combo). She may not be Marilyn Monroe, but I for one instantly had her faced burned on my brain after her appearance in the 1999 smash teen comedy American Pie. She’d go on to star in its first sequel American Pie 2 and will be appearing in the upcoming American Reunion as well.
I don’t really care what else he’s done. I don’t care if he’s had a recurring role on Heroes or played the Headless Horseman in Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow. He was the martial arts expert and actor behind Darth Maul, the coolest villain to turn up onscreen in a long time. So whether or not I’m a huge fan of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace in all its dippy Jar Jar Binks glory, I loved watching any scene with Ray Park as he had portrayed Darth Maul.
As a big fan and follower of the Academy Awards, there’s just no thrill quite like meeting the recipient of one of the major Oscars. There is no woman alive who could have done a better job at portraying the attractive yet cold Nurse Racthed in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, for which Louise Fletcher won the Oscar for Best Actress in 1975. She has never found a role quite like that one, but she was nominated for an Emmy for her appearance as Christine Bey in one of my all-time favorite dramatic shows Picket Fences.
I had been mostly unfamiliar with Ron Ely when I met him at the Chicago Hollywood Show on October 1, 2011 – although it had only been less-than four months earlier that I had seen him during the screening of an episode of Superboy called The Road to Hell at the 2010
