    • After his wife takes his home in a divorce settlement and he loses his TV series Blind Cop, actor Josh Roberts (Mark Feuerstein) moves from his home in Los Angeles to an apartment in New York, his new adjacent to his parents Harry (Elliot Gould) and Judy (Linda Lavin) on one side in 9J and on the other side to his surgeon brother Andrew (David Walton), his pediatrician wife Eve (Liza Lapira), and their baby son Wyatt. Both parents are overbearing and demand much of his time. No matter how hard Josh tries to sneak into his apartment, his mother always catches him in the hall and brings him in to chat. He also becomes reacquainted with the Nick the doorman, who frequently stops him to talk about his exploits. Resident kid Ian (Albert Tsai) often hangs out in the lobby and is a film buff who looks down on Josh’s work on TV. Judy immediately tries to fix him up on dates, and Harry asks Josh to participate in a ‘viral video’ for his office to promote estate planning. While out running in the park is recognized not only a Blind Cop fan (Fernando Martinez), but also by an old college classmate named Christina Jones (Sally Pressman), on whom he had a major crush. He asks her on a date, and she accepts. When Ian tells him about director Paul Feig’s next movie Groomies, Josh tries to get an audition through his agent. When that fails, Harry thinks he can help since his classmate once represented Paul Feig’s cousin. Josh remembers that the video for his father is that night, which could interfere with his date with Christina. He thinks he can rush through the video shoot, but with his father’s lack of acting skills, they have to do nearly fifty takes until they come up with the most mediocre of scenes. Before he can get to his date, Andrew and Eve’s babysitter Molly (Hana Hayes) calls Josh with a supposed relationship crisis and demands that he come get the baby since no one else is available. He is then forced to take the baby to meet Christina at the restaurant and then wait for Andrew and Eve to show up from their escape room to pick him up. After fending them off when they try to join them for dinner, Josh and Christina have a great date and decide to go back to Josh’s apartment since Christina is staying on the couch of a friend. When they arrive, he figures out that it is Nick who is calling up to his mother to tell her that when he gets home. Josh says that he needs to check on his elderly neighbor, so he stops by to greet his mother and has Christina wait for him in the apartment. Once he gets through is brief visit with her, he returns to Christina, only to be interrupted by his mother at the door, and then his father on the terrace. Andrew also gets into the act and comes out onto his terrace, where he continues the conversation with their parents even after Josh goes back inside. As he lambasts them for interrupting his date, Christina decides to leave due to all of the interruptions. Harry then gets a phone call that Paul Feig (himself) will meet with Josh if he can get there in twenty minutes. Harry, Judy, and Andrew all come along, but the meeting is incredibly brief, and Feig tells Josh that he already gave the part he was going for to Steve Carrell. However, he does offer Josh a smaller part as a bandleader. His family all congratulates him, and he thanks them for always being there for him. Josh later bribes Nick with Knicks tickets to never again call his mother to tell him that he is home. He is able to walk into his apartment uninterrupted… only to find that his parents are inside. They are joined by Andrew and Eve, and Josh says that they need to establish some ground rules. Judy refuses. 6/14/25

  • 002. Relationship Guy – 10/9/2017
    • When Nick delivers a package to Josh and sees how his bachelor pad is coming along, the two of them start swapping stories about one-night stands. Nick is disappointed when Josh really doesn’t have any, which causes Josh to realize that he has always been in longer relationships and never had a one-night stand. Andrew and Eve concur with this and decide to help him find a woman for a night of casual sex. Meanwhile, Harry buys bananas immediately after Judy has stocked up on them. Unable to throw them away, Harry promises to take care of them. However, when he picks out a fruit to eat, he chooses an apple. Out a nightclub, Eve and Andrew accompany him and send him to talk to a woman who is looking at him named Katie (Sofia Gonzalez), who recognizes him from his work on Blind Cop. Before long, Josh is FaceTiming Katie’s mother, so Harry and Eve pull him away. gives Josh advice on how to make a one-stand work, including such things as giving her breakfast burrito to go, making sure she doesn’t leave anything in his apartment, not hugging, and not exchanging phone numbers. Andrew takes offense when he hears Eve’s rules and realizes that he was meant to be a one-night stand himself. Josh approaches another girl named Lily (Mouzam Makkar) and hits it off with her as well. They wind up going back to his apartment, and the next morning, Josh maintains the rules by sending her on her way, not exchanging names or numbers, and trying not to hug, although he ends up giving her one just as his mother steps out of her apartment. He even declines to go at it again thinking that it would disqualify him from having a one-night stand. However, he later brags about his conquest to Eve, and she says it still would have counted. When he returns home that evening, he finally has something to brag to Nick about. When he stops by his parents’ apartment on the way to his, he finds that they are feeding bananas to Lily. Judy claims that she ran into her downstairs and the two of them wound up sharing a cab and spending the day together shopping. Although Josh tries to be clear to his mother that she was supposed to be a one-night stand only, the more he hears about her, the more he comes to like her. As Lily leaves, Josh says goodbye to her, but it ultimately leads to them kissing in the hallway and then having another one-night stand. The next morning, almost everyone, including Andrew, who has recognized how one-night stands can be hurtful, is happy about Josh admitting that he’s not really a one-night stand guy and truly likes Lily. Eve, however, considers him to be a wimp. Eve shows all of the items that she saved from her first date with Andrew, finally satisfying him that although she had originally thought he’d be a one-night stand, she obviously knew they had a future. Josh invites Lily over and confesses that he’s really more of a relationship guy, and she tells him that she is the same. She also tells him that she is ready to get married and already thinks that she loves him, scaring him off immediately. Harry continues to try and shove down all of the bananas. 6/14/25

  • 006. TV MD – 11/6/2017
    • As usual, Josh’s parents are in his apartment too often, and although he didn’t accept an opportunity to audition to voice an animated Italian loafer in a new film that will emulate Cars, his folks insist that he talk to their friends Marsha (Audrey Feuerstein) and Fred Bernstein (Harvey Feuerstein) and do the voice of the character. When Andrew and Eve stop by to tell them that Andrew is going to be interviewed on the talk show Wake Up New York, it hardly registers a response from the folk. Josh helps coach Andrew on how to use his hands while he is being interviewed because when he practices, he flops them around like a T-Rex. When the interview goes well, Andrew is given a time slot on the show twice a week, and Judy and Harry’s friends start asking for medical advice, suddenly Andrew becomes a big shot with the folks, and they are always at his apartment. Even Nick suddenly wants to be best friends with Andrew. When the newfound fame starts going to Andrew’s head, and he refuses to give Josh any credit for coaching him, Josh decides that he will accept the audition for the animated film about shoes after all. He auditions for a casting director (Suzy Nakamura), but she can’t give him a feel for whether he got the job or not. Nevertheless, because Judy and Harry are now always at Andrew’s place, Eve tells them that Josh did get the job. Because Josh sees Andrew bringing home a life-size cutout of himself, he goes along with it, and suddenly the attention is back on him. When they all go out to celebrate for dinner, Josh gets a call and learns that the job went to James Franco. He is then forced to confess to everyone that he didn’t get the job after all, leading to an argument between him and Andrew about how Josh can’t stand Andrew’s success and always has to steal his thunder. The two boys later talk about how they always are in competition with each other and ultimately blame their mother for this. When they point this out to her, she reminds them that it always drove them to be better until ultimately, they both became hugely successful. Later, Josh announces that James Franco passed on the role, and he now has the job. Andrew, however, has lost his TV job, which makes Josh smile. The brothers assure each other that they are rooting for each other’s success, as long as the other doesn’t become more successful than themselves. 4/21/26
