    • The Hart family, who reside in the suburbs of Houston, Texas, and is made up of dentist Brock (Christopher Rich), his ex-wife Reba Nell (Reba McEntire), their teenage daughter Cheyenne (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), middle daughter Kyra (Scarlett Pomers), and youngest son Jake (Mitch Holleman), are sent to court-ordered therapy after a melee ensues at the separation custody hearing. The doctor Susan Peters (Nell Carter) is trying to get to the root of their problems, when it is revealed that Brock is going to marry his dental receptionist Barbara Jean Booker (Melissa Peterman) and she is pregnant, and also that Cheyenne is pregnant from her boyfriend Van Montgomery (Steve Howey). Brock and Reba are naturally angry, but Reba plans to offer her daughter support. She sends Van home to tell his parents the news. That night she finds Van hiding under Cheyenne’s bed. She has snuck him into the house because when he told his parents, they responded by kicking him out. Reba tells him that he can live at their house, so she can help oversee the raising of the baby. Van makes a grand gesture and asks Cheyenne to marry him. Although Brock is his assistant coach and a fan of Van as a high school football player, he is against the marriage and tells Reba that he refuses to come to the wedding. She demands that he come, and is asked to bring ice to the wedding ceremony at her house. Reba works hard to get ready for the wedding despite a series of crises including Cheyenne refusing to wear Reba’s wedding dress in favor of a tiny strapless dress with no bra, and Cheyenne melting down because she’s afraid her father isn’t coming. When Reba starts burning the food, she too nearly has a nervous breakdown. Brock finally shows up with the ice, as well as the eternally perky Barbara Jean. Reba recovers just in time to stop a fight between Cheyenne and Van, started because Van plans to play football after the wedding. This results in a small melee that causes Barbara Jean to fall into the cake. Reba has a talk with Cheyenne realizing that their lives are not how they planned them to be, but it is important that they learn to plot a new course. The wedding goes on as planned. Bret Loehr is Jake’s friend Bret. Jorge Luis Abreu is the wedding photographer. 1/10/22

  • 002. The Honeymoon’s Over or Now What? – 10/12/2001
    • Cheyenne and Van return from their honeymoon in Galveston and head back to school. After they leave, Brock stops by to pick up some things, and Barbara Jean comes in to go to the restroom. They get a call from the school principal Mrs. Hodge (Julia Duffy) that she’d like to see Cheyenne’s parents. Reba and Brock both head out, but they forget that Barbara Jean is there, and leave her behind at the house. Mrs. Hodge recommends that Cheyenne be moved to the Holly House School for Pregnant Teens. Reba doesn’t care for the idea, but agrees to show Cheyenne the pamphlet. Cheyenne turns out to be adamantly against it and refuses to go. When Reba informs Mrs. Hodge of Cheyenne’s decision, Mrs. Hodge tells them that it wasn’t merely a suggestion, and that if she doesn’t move to the Holly House, that she’ll suspend Cheyenne for an earlier infraction she did with the drill team. Reba thinks this is unfair, and she tells Mrs. Hodge that she will have a battle if she tries to suspend Cheyenne. The family sees the therapist Dr. Peters again, this time with Barbara Jean dragged along. They all discuss the school situation, and Reba suggests that Van not attend classes either… including the Wildcats championship football game. This worries Brock, as he knows they won’t win without him, but Brocks wants to support Cheyenne. He carries out with the boycott until the night of the game.  Brock nearly talks Van into playing, since there might be college scouts at the game, but in the ends he refuses to play. Mrs. Brock finally shows up at the house and tells Cheyenne that she has officially been reinstated. Cheyenne decides she no longer wants to go to Westchester High School any longer, since they only want her so that Van will play in the game. Kyra tells Cheyenne that she shouldn’t buckle and let the school keep her hidden away. Cheyenne says she can’t expect the school to accept her when her own mother can’t. Reba admits that having a pregnant, married high school daughter wasn’t exactly in her plans, but agrees to try and improve her attitude. Cheyenne finally agrees to go back, and tells Van that it was very cool of him to stick up for her. Reba even allows them to share a big kiss before they leave for the game. 1/10/22

Meanwhile, Brock takes Jake out for his visitation and Reba gives him a long list of thing that he should and shouldn’t do wit him. Reba is shocked when she takes Cheyenne to her gynecologist appointment that one of the places that Brock takes Jake is the very same office, where Barbra Jean has her gynecologist. While she and Cheyenne are waiting for the doctor, Reba gets Cheyenne to admit that she hates a lot of what Van is bringing into her room, and encourages her to talk to Van about it. However when she confronts Van about it, Van gets furious and storms out of the room. This also leads to a fight between Reba and Cheyenne, who thinks that Reba is too controlling and that this is why Brock left her. Reba goes and sees Dr. Peters, who tells her that is overreacting and she needs to take some time for herself. Reba chooses to go to a move and leaves the kids home to fend for themselves. They wind up calling their father to bring them pizza. When Cheyenne complains to her father about her mother being a control freak, he is quick to defend Reba and tells her that even though she can be controlling, she is still an amazing woman that stayed with him as long as she could with as difficult as he can be, and that their problems only became big because they didn’t communicate the little things. When Reba gets home that night, Cheyenne and Reba come to an agreement, and Reba promises to stop interfering and Cheyenne apologizes for how hard she was on her mother. Van asks for his coach Brock on how to handle Cheyenne’s mood swings and constant misery from her sickness. Brock claims that Barbra Jean doesn’t show any signs of sickness when he tells her to shake it off and change her attitude. He also offers to have them over so that they can get a change of scenery. Van tries to use this with Cheyenne, but she doesn’t want his advice that boils down to him wanting her to stop vomiting. She agrees to visit her dad though, and doesn’t understand why Barbra Jean doesn’t seem to feel sick. She admits that she actually feels terrible, but wants to hide it from her man and keeps a smile on her face no matter how bad she feels. Back home, Reba finds out that Jake now wants to have a campout at Robbie’s place. Reba confronts Caroline about it, and she finally admits that she doesn’t want Robbie picking up any bad influences at Reba’s house. This upsets Reba and she tells Jake that he can’t go over there, and then has an indoor campout in Robbie’s room with him. When Robbie thinks the night is lame, Reba returns to Caroline’s house and tells her that Jake can come over since she doesn’t want to hurt him, but she only wishes Caroline trusted her. Van is also the player of the week, which means that his parents are supposed to throw a pre-game steak dinner for the team, and he asks Reba to stop in for them since his parents hate him. She reluctantly agrees, but doesn’t quite realize what a big deal it is until Brock and B.J. bring over the The Westchester Wildcat Pre-Game Steak Dinner Bible which highlights all of the specifics of the ritual. Since B.J. has it memorized already, she offers to take over but Reba declines. Reba gets to work following the bible to the letter, although Cheyenne gets distracted in the baby aisle at the grocery store and brings home Gerland’s potato salad instead of Ed’s Famous Potato Salad. The dinner is a rousing success and all of the rituals are followed, making Reba a star mother to the team. Van promises to take care of it, but the photo remains, and even worse, Cheyenne isn’t getting any votes. Much to Van’s surprise, when he speaks to his father, he gives Van a new truck and tells them that they can come live with them.
