"It was so pitch, you couldn't see your hand behind your back." - Stan Laurel, "Atoll K"

tp1Sometimes it’s boils down to perspectives. I had had my fill of overpriced autographs and paying even more for photo ops as my friend Dean and I browsed the aisles of the Wizard World Comic Con in Chicago, Illinois on August 11, 2012. Then I happened upon two lovely ladies, both of whom I had met before at the Twin Peaks reunion at the Hollywood Show a couple of years earlier. I didn’t have plans to pick up any more autographs or photo ops, but then I saw their little pricing signs, both of which listed their autograph prices at $20, with a free photo op with the purchase.

Still there wasn’t any practical reason to purchase anything more or get additional pictures, but I still felt compelled to say hello to them. I started with Sherilyn Fenn, who had played Audrey Horne in the series. She was super nice and seemed genuinely appreciative just to have me stop by and say hello.

Next to her was Sheryl Lee, who had been the Laura Palmer, whose murder had been the whole MacGuffin of the series. Somewhere between saying hello to Sherilyn and Sheryl, I felt compelled to add an additional Twin Peaks item to my collection. I picked up the photo seen above (which had been a supposed snapshot of the pair of friends taken prior to any of the action in the series). There was just something haunting about it.

I bought it from Sheryl and had her sign it, then pose for a photo with me. I did ask if I could get a photo with both of them, but she politely declined since there had been one of those expensive photo ops to get a joint photo with the pair. This really didn’t bother me, and I moved back over to Sherilyn’s table and had her sign the picture and pose for an updated picture with me.

There was something about these pretty ladies. There was just something about Twin Peaks. It kept drawing me back.

The concludes the celebrity encounters from the 2012 Wizard World Comic Con. Return to the original posting here
