df3Who can forget such 1980’s classics as Valley Girl, My Chafufeur, or April Fool’s Day? C’mon…show of hands. OK, so almost no one. I do, because they were on frequent rotation on HBO. And I have a feeling there are a lot of others my age who were inundated by these or other similar low-quality-but-fun movies as youthful, impressionable boys. The common denominator among all of these films is that they all were lead by actress Deborah Foreman. She wasn’t just some bit player, she was the star!

As the 1980’s came to a close, the roles started to get a little bit more obscure (in non-classics such as Waxwork and Predator: The Concert), and then dried up altogether. But for the roles she got, she was perfect: a cute valley girl with sparkling eyes and an irresistible charm. As a guy, I was totally rooting for Nicolas Cage to win her over in Valley Girl. And I totally wanted her to succeed in My Chauffeur (although I’ll admit that this was on that I only watched because Penn & Teller had a part in it).

When Deborah Foreman made her first appearance at the Hollywood Show on August 4, 2012, I was right there to pick up a nice signed photo from Valley Girl. It was also cool that the show was in Burbank…in the Valley. So the location proved to be totally appropriate.

She’d make another appearance at Chiller that fall, but I didn’t pester her any beyond our Hollywood Show meeting (other than become friends on Facebook). She was certainly nice, reasonably priced, and friendly enough and overall the whole encounter was tubular to the max…totally.

  1. I knew I recognized that face. I had to look her up, but I remember her from her small role in Real Genius.

  2. VG is GREAT movie! To this day I’m puzzled by Nic Cage’s chest hair from the beach scene. Deborah still looks great!
