What a fabulous room. Are all these your guitars? This place is bigger than our whole apartment. Can I get a drink of water? Look at this tub. Wanna take a bath? Hey, are you feeling ok…? Any Pink Floyd fan worth their weight in salt will then follow these lines up with singing… Day after day, Love turns grey, like the skin on the dying man… However, I will go one even further and follow it up with, “hey, I met that chick.” At least I met the chick who starred as that groupie delivering those lines to Mr. Pink Floyd in Pink Floyd: The Wall.

Her name is Jenny Wright, and although she had relatively prominent roles in some 80’s films like The World According to Garp, Stl Elmo’s Fire, The Wild Life and Out of Bounds, I’ll always remember those mesmerizing eyes from The Wall. In her day, her face couldn’t have been more adorable, and one might have done just about anything to be one of Bob Geldof’s fingers. So I was understandably disappointed when she didn’t show up to greet fans at one of the Hollywood Shows I attended last year.

But another chance eventually came around – much closer to my home – when she appeared at the Horrorhound Weekend in Indianapolis on September 9, 2012. I made sure to tell her how much I had missed seeing her at the show that she skipped, and she said that it had to do with it being a dead zone. Either way, I was happy that $20 got me a signed photo and a posed picture with her. In fact, I was so happy about it that I made sure to tell her handler how much of a difference it made to the perception of the celebrities when they didn’t charge for a photo. Jenny agreed.

Even if she wasn’t quite as captivating as a 50-year old as she was as a 20-year old, it was quite a pleasure to see her and get an arm around this somewhat iconic 80’s actress. After our meeting, I was indeed feeling ok.

Celebrity encounters of the Summer Horrorhound Weekend show will continue
