It’s kind of hard to believe that the roles for which Charlotte Stewart is best known are so diametrically opposed. I knew her best for her sensitive portrayal of Miss Beadle, the teacher of the Ingalls sisters in Little House on the Prairie. She came across as the type of teacher that you would want for your children, kind-hearted, caring, but stern enough to keep them on task. But Charlotte Stewart was actually appearing at the Hollywood Show on Saturday, October 9, 2010 as part of the Twin Peaks reunion.

She had starred in the David Lynch series as Betty Briggs, mother of Laura Palmer’s boyfriend Bobby Briggs. Her role extended to the prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. This wasn’t her first collaboration with Lynch either, as she had previously appeared in Eraserhead.

My friend Bob had picked up the nice signed photo seen above at a collectors show in the early 2000’s. During our encounter, she was all too happy to pose for a picture with me free of charge. She was exceptionally friendly and told me how she had driven down from her home in Napa, California to attend the show. When I asked her if she brought me any lemon verbena (the perfume that Laura Ingalls was obsessed with on Little House), she told me no, that where she came from, it would have been orange verbena.
