"Hey dude, do you wanna go on a date for a beer with a dork? Well, I've got one right here - it's me!" - Briana Pond

I was completely taken aback when I saw how attractive Anne Heche was in person. I was used to seeing that short-haired girlfriend-of-Ellen-Anne Heche on TV and in the movies and frankly, never thought she looked that good. But with her hair down, she was quite the dazzler. A charming personality made her even more appealing. She is in my opinion, what one might refer to as a big star – not some performer whose glory days came many years ago (the type I normally meet). So it was a breath of fresh air that she didn’t need to be goaded into signing an autograph or posing for a picture.

When I saw her posing for photographers after her performance in the Actors Fund reading of Casablanca on October 2, 2005, I was thinking that I might have to shove the photo from the Gus Van Zant Psycho remake in front of her to get her to sign it. But no, she appraoched me, knowing that I had the photo, took my pen, greeted me, and gladly signed it. She started to walk away when she noticed that Jimmy was standing behind me with the camera. Although she could have easily made a graceful exit (as I was the last person to see before she hit the door), she came back slowly, taking her time to make sure we had a nice pose, and beamed her pearly whites for the camera.

It’s nice to know that there are still some class acts like Anne Heche left in Hollywood.

This concludes the actors I met who performed in the reading of Casablanca. Return to the show here
