North By Northwest Through California

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

After Erin and her family left Ohio on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, I had just a few nights to scramble together my packing necessities before embarking on my third week-long adventure of the year. The culmination of this trip would be the 17th International Sons of the Desert convention in Sacramento, which was scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 16. Bob and I had originally planned to begin in Seattle and head southward to the convention. The main reason for this was to visit with John Babcock, the last surviving Canadian soldier from World War 1. He was living in Spokane, but unfortunately, although we had pre-arranged a meeting, he passed away in February. Read the rest of this entry »

I rolled into June 2010, pleased as punch to have Erin and her kids Nate and Chloe as my houseguests following our trip to Dollywood and the Memorial Day holiday. Carlsbad and San Diego

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

I was up bright and early at Bob’s house on Wednesday, April 28, 2010. For the first time in my life, I would be driving on my own in southern California (discounting a minimal amount of desert driving on the way to Vegas the summer before). My destination was to meet up with my friend April  at her home in Carlsbad, near San Diego. I left about 8:30am, drove without incident using Bob’s car and GPS, and made it there by about 10:30. We didn’t really have much of an agenda, so we started looking up things online. Elisabeth Röhm and the Angel

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

I may not have been so inclined to purchase one of Elisabeth Röhm’s signed photos at the Hollywood Show in Burbank on Saturday, April 24, 2010, has she not been so captivatingly charming. She was on my list as a ‘possibly maybe,’ but once I saw her and made contact with those alluring eyes, she became a ‘probably so’. For me, it was her portrayal of Detective Kate Lockley in 15 episodes of Angel, the popular spin-off to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Read the rest of this entry »

It was no fun having to work during Erin’s first visit with me, but duty called and so I had to leave her behind once again and march off to the office. Fortunately, Erin wasn’t stranded at my house because Ashleigh (whose car had broken down and been repaired during my California vacation) still had possession of my Mom’s car and didn’t need it any longer. Therefore Erin was able to take advantage of the day and go visit her good friend from days gone by Nathalie Bennett, who is living in Springboro. We met up again at my Mom’s house around 6pm on the evening of Wednesday, May 5, 2010. Read the rest of this entry »
