Sherry Alberoni

Monday, January 30th, 2012

I didn’t really know the name Sherry Alberoni when her name was announced to be a guest at the Hollywood Show in Burbank on February 12, 2011, so I looked her up. After than I ended up purchasing not one, but two signed photos of her. Oddly, neither one of them were from Josie and the Pussycats, which was why she had been invited in the first place – as part of a reuion of voice performers who worked on that show. I was more interested in a couple of things that she had done earlier in her career. Read the rest of this entry »

Pocohontas

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

As a lifelong fan of Disney animation, it’s very unlikely that I’d be apt to pass up an autograph and photo op with one of the talented performers who lent their voices to one of the characters in any of the animated classic features. Especially when it’s a part as significant as the title role. Summer and the J-months had been off to a rip-roaring start and I didn’t intend to let the momentum go as we began our descent out of June 2011. I strolled through it doing more than just enjoying the sounds of Peter Case, Jet, Hard-Fi, the Young Veins, Panic! at the Disco, and weekly doses of Billboard #1 hits on the iPod. There were still lots of fun things to do right here in our homeland, before the big Summer vacations would be commencing. Although the first event of this final week of June seemed unassuming, it was a catalyst for an entirely new ‘bucket list’ that I would soon be adding to my repertoire of things-to-do-before-I-die. It began as an innocent dinner near Jamie’s house. Read the rest of this entry »

After spending a good portion of the early day checking out many of the Fantasyland rides that I typically bypass, Jimmy, David, and I continued with our visit to Disneyland on Friday, March 25, 2011, with more traditional fare. After we had disembarked the Disneyland Railroad at the front of the park, we hit the first attraction we came to on Main Street U.S.A.: Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln. Always a classic (and pre-cursor to the Magic Kingdom’s Hall of Presidents), this attraction welcomed us to the 3:00pm showing and front row seats. This enabled me to get at least one good photo of Mr. Lincoln in the room where cameras were frowned upon. Read the rest of this entry »

The Living Tinkerbell

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

Perhaps you’re wondering how a real life actress can get the credit as playing Tinkerbell in the 1953 Walt Disney animated classic Peter Pan, especially since Tinkerbell didn’t talk in the film. Well here’s how: In the early days of Disney animation, live actors were hired to pantomime the movements of their on-screen counterparts. Margaret Kerry was the actress who was tapped to be old Tink. But to solidify her presence in the actual film, she also provided the voice of one of the red-headed mermaid in the Neverland lagoon. But when I first met Margaret Kerry, I didn’t really know much about her involvement with Peter Pan. Read the rest of this entry »
