"Bye-bye, baby face!" - Lily, "Our Relations"

I didn’t know all that much about Cynthia Pepper, and I would have possibly bypassed getting her autograph when she appeared at the Hollywood Show in Burbank on February 11, 2012. However my friend Dean was keenly aware of who she was because his favorite TV sitcom is My Three Sons. She had starred in nine of the earlier episodes of the series as next-door neighbor Jean Pearson, the love interest of Mike, the eldest of the Douglas boys (played by Tim Considine). Since Dean wanted an autograph, I got to meet her and get a photo with her. Since she kindly offered a 2 for $30 deal, I picked up one of the signed photos.

It’s a choice I’m glad I made. As a sitcom fan, it would have a been a crying shame if I had skipped her considering her role in not only My Three Sons, but her numerous guest spots on TV shows such as The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, The Addams Family, Julia, and The Flying Nun. In addition, she had her own short-lived series called Margie for 26 episodes in 1961-1962. She also had a role in Elvis Presley’s Kissin’ Cousins.

Cynthia Pepper is the kind of celebrity I need to be careful not to overlook… because when the day comes that I’ll realize that I had had the chance to meet her and it was too late, I’d tend to get a little salty.

Celebrity encounters of the Winter 2012 Hollywood Show will continue
