"Instead of getting a cat, why don't we all just stop flushing?" - Red Foreman, "That 70's Show"

lerner2Ken Lerner has one of those faces that might look maddeningly familiar, but one that you can’t place exactly where you have seen it. His 30-year career as a character actor began in the late 1970’s and continues to the current day. He can be spotted in such sitcoms as Laverne & Shirley, Happy Days, Newhart, Sledge Hammer!, Family Ties, Friends, Scrubs, and Two and a Half Man – just to scratch the surface.

Lerner’s biggest claim to fame though was that he was cast as the first principal of Sunnydale High School during the first season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He only appeared in four episodes before he was eaten alive by a pack of possessed students.

There wasn’t much of a crowd around him during his appearance at the Chiller Theatre Show in Parsippany, New Jersey, on April 18, 2009. He was pleasant enough, although most of his photos were abhorrent out-of-proportion frame grabs. He willingly posed for a photo after selling me one of the pictures. I mistakenly asked him to sign it “Principal Lerner”, but he realized I had make a mistake and put his actual character name: Principal Flutie.
