In a previous posting, I mentioned that I had once met Edie Adams, but did not have the foresight to get my photo take with her for whatever reason. In actuality, I never did really meet her. She was at a private party that I attended and she performed a routine, but I never made my way over her to give her my regards. Fortunately, as time marches on, we sometimes get second chances. I had really enjoyed Daniel Stern’s performance in Barbra’s Wedding, a story about an out-of-work actor and his wife living next door to Barbra Streisand on the day that a wedding was taking place at her home…and they weren’t invited. He was also the author of the play and I found it very funny and extremely entertaining. The fact that we were in the front row and that the actors were practically performing in our laps didn’t hurt either. I also really liked Stern’s work in City Slickers, Home Alone, and as the narrator on the TV show The Wonder Years. Read the rest of this entry »
Unfortunately, it has been five years since I have actually been able to see former Our Gang star Dorothy deBorba. Because of health reasons, namely that she requires an oxygen tank, she has been unable to travel from her home in Livermore, California for the last several years. Our association goes way back to this particular day at the Hollywood ’80 convention. I had already met Dorothy earlier that afternoon while she was being interviewed before the Culver City parade. It was there that I plunked myself down between her and Butch Bond to tune into what they were saying. Read the rest of this entry »
