…and I’ll bet we’ll be together for a million more. Those words, so sweetly sung by Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams, signalled that the next 22 minutes would be consumed by one of the funniest and most intelligent sitcoms of the 80’s. And the fact that the quintessential parents from Family Ties, otherwise known as Steven and Elyse Keaton, otherwise known as Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter-Birney (now just Baxter since the days of becoming a lesbian), were going to be present at the Chicago Celebrity Show on Saturday, September 25, 2010, was enough to tip the scales – if they needed tipping – on whether I was going to attend the show. Atlanta 2010 – Part 2

The time that we had gained the day before by visiting the Jimmy Carter Library quickly disintegrated into late morning slumber on Thursday, September 16, 2010. The plans were going to be to hit the Carter Library early and then catch a tour of the Georgia State Capitol at 11am, but even without the library, we didn’t make it to the capitol building until 11:20am, missing the guided tour. The Karate Kid

From the sounds of Cruel Summer by Bananarama to the sights of Daniel sanding the deck to the pure adrenaline rush of the final Crane Technique kick in the chops, The Karate Kid is a pure classic time capsule of the 1980’s. Quality of the films not withstanding, there is no way that the recent remake is going to replace the 1984 original. And although Pat Morita’s performance as Mr. Miyagi was worthy enough to be nominated for an Oscar, those who were teens when this movie came out could better related to Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso. Another Chicago Weekend 2010

With my ever-growing addictive obsession of celebrity encounters, I decided to attend my fourth consecutive Hollywood Celebrities & Memorabilia show in Chicago – even if it meant taking a road trip just two days after returning from Florida. I got back from that vacation on Wednesday afternoon, September 22, 2010. This left me only one evening to get the air filled in my new Acura over at Mom’s house, so it was road-worthy for another trip.
