Blue October in April

April 27th, 2012

Following the Easter holiday, my focus was mostly on getting prepared for my upcoming trip; there was a lot of grass cutting, laundry folding, finding autographs, searching out DD&Ds and movie locations, getting slightly ahead on this here website, uploading CDs, visiting the library, and getting Mindy and her daughter Taylor prepped to take care of Tiny and Baby. So with the lone exception of having lunch at Chick-fil-A with Mom on Thursday the 12th, this was aobut all that I did with my week. Read the rest of this entry »

I consider the TV show Cheers to be one of the all-time classic sitcoms, and it hovers right near the top of the list of my favorites. So when I heard that the actor who portayed the unsung sardonic, chubby dude who typically sat at the end of the bar by Norm and Cliff was going to be at the Hollywood Show in Burbank on February 11, 2012, I moved up to the top of my priority list for this show. Kristine in Wonderland

April 16th, 2012

I guess her claim to fame is that she was the leading actress in Alice in Wonderland: An X-Rated Musical Comedy, a 1976 adult film which was obviously based on the fairy tale. But I didn’t know Kristine DeBell until she entered the regular mainstream and starred as the incredibly cute and endearing counselor A.L. in the Bill Murray summer camp romp Meatballs. There were also plenty of TV appearances for Kristine in the late 70’s and early 80’s, chief among them Night Court, Eight Is Enough, CHiPs, and Barnaby Jones. Read the rest of this entry »

But I took them away from all that and now they work for me. My name is Charlie. Wait. No it’s not… and no I didn’t. These gals weren’t angels, but they were both pretty darn nice. I’m referring to two of the female co-stars from the movie Police Academy. They were actually present as part of a reunion of actors and actresses from the series at the Hollywood Show on April 2, 2011. Sadly, the reunion didn’t have the impact that it might have if Bubba Smith and George Gaynes had shown up as scheduled. Donovan Scott was also there, but I snubbed him since he didn’t have any photos from Life with Lucy. I’m kind of regretting that. Read the rest of this entry »

Easter 2012

April 13th, 2012

After the mild winter (or lack-of-winter), it was a bit jarring that the first week of April wasn’t much warmer. So even though Spring didn’t bring about the change in weather quite yet, it did bring about a big change. On April Fools Day (my first one in the last five years that I haven’t been on the road with my friend Bob), Ashleigh and Silas were going to come over and visit, but instead hit me with a request that most assuredly was NOT an April Fools joke. She and Silas were ready to move back in for a while. It seems that the living arrangements in the apartment where they were staying had fallen apart, and Ashleigh didn’t want to go back to Stephen’s folks’ house. Read the rest of this entry »
