Siegfried & Doc

June 26th, 2012

I had possessed a signed photo of Bernie Kopell for quite some time; my friend Bob had gotten it for me at one of the Hollywood Collector Shows in the late-1990’s. Bob had also filled me in that he wasn’t the most pleasant guys. All I needed from him was a picture taken with me, but with Bob’s warning, I wasn’t counting on trying to finagle a free one. I thought my chance might come to meet him at the Hollywood Show in February of 2011, but alas, the Love Boat reunion that was supposed to take place was ‘postponed’. Read the rest of this entry »

Lisa Marie Vampira

June 21st, 2012

I was once married to a Lisa Marie, but it wasn’t this one. Nor was this one the daughter of Elvis Presley. What she was was incredibly late. In fact, she ended up showing up so late (arriving around 2pm) to the Hollywood Show on April 2, 2011, that she was the last celebrity I met that day. But regardless of being late, there was no way that I was going to skip meeting the attractive and expressionlessly charming Lisa Marie, who had made a career out of starring in Tim Burton’s strangely odd films. The previous day had been restful enough that Silas and I seemed to be on the upturn with our colds. Megan on the other hand still had her worst furious vomit ahead of her. It came pretty early in the day of Wednesday, April 18, 2012. We had escaped the hotel vomit-free, but after boarding the bus from the All Star Movie Resort to Disney’s Animal Kingdom at around 10am, she let loose. I had just finished a plastic bowl of fruit, so I handed that off to help capture some of the spew. The good news in all of this was that this signaled the end of Megan’s illness. The bad news was that she had just vomited on a bus. Read the rest of this entry »

Nancy Kwan

June 18th, 2012

Sadly, as of yet I have never seen a movie that stars Nancy Kwan. But I could tell from the time that she was announced to be a guest at the Hollywood Show taking place on February 12, 2011, that she was kind of a big deal. More importantly to her actual film roles in the likes of films such as The World of Suzie Wong, Flower Drum Song, Disney’s Lt. Robin Crusoe, U.S.N, and more recently Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, was the fact that she paved the way for Asian actors in Hollywood films. Read the rest of this entry »

Memorial Day Weekend 2012

June 15th, 2012

I had been in Colorado during Memorial Day 2011, so the only person in the world whom I spent the last two Memorial Days with was my cousin Chris. That has little bearing on this posting, but Chris likes to see his name in print. Nevertheless, I kicked off this holiday weekend spending some time with him since he was back in Dayton for a month or so. After work on Friday, May 25, 2012, Chris came over and we went to the Pub at the Greene for some drinks and appetizers. My choice naturally was Strongbow Cider. He didn’t make a conscious choice to get snubbed by an old schoolmate named Melissa, but he did anyway. Read the rest of this entry »
