But I took them away from all that and now they work for me. My name is Charlie. Wait. No it’s not… and no I didn’t. These gals weren’t angels, but they were both pretty darn nice. I’m referring to two of the female co-stars from the movie Police Academy. They were actually present as part of a reunion of actors and actresses from the series at the Hollywood Show on April 2, 2011. Sadly, the reunion didn’t have the impact that it might have if Bubba Smith and George Gaynes had shown up as scheduled. Donovan Scott was also there, but I snubbed him since he didn’t have any photos from Life with Lucy. I’m kind of regretting that. Read the rest of this entry »

Easter 2012

After the mild winter (or lack-of-winter), it was a bit jarring that the first week of April wasn’t much warmer. So even though Spring didn’t bring about the change in weather quite yet, it did bring about a big change. On April Fools Day (my first one in the last five years that I haven’t been on the road with my friend Bob), Ashleigh and Silas were going to come over and visit, but instead hit me with a request that most assuredly was NOT an April Fools joke. She and Silas were ready to move back in for a while. It seems that the living arrangements in the apartment where they were staying had fallen apart, and Ashleigh didn’t want to go back to Stephen’s folks’ house. Read the rest of this entry »

Dean Stockwell

Dean Stockwell was a good celebrity to meet. I’ve been curious about his career ever since I saw that he had starred as a young man in an episode of the original Twilight Zone (A Quality of Mercy). I had no idea at that point exactly what he went on to do. Eventually I learned. Actually by the time he was in the Twilight Zone, he was already somewhat a veteran of the silver screen, having begun his career years earlier as a boy of nine. Some of his early roles included Anchors Aweigh, Abbott and Costello in Hollywood, and Gentleman’s Agreement. Read the rest of this entry »

Just One of the Guys was one of those teen movies of the mid-80’s that didn’t quite rise up to the quality of the John Hughes films of the era, but was still quite fun nonetheless. Considering that the movie poster itself pictures a topless, sexy Joyce Hyser, I think that most adolescent boys were hoping for a bit more raunchiness than the film ended up having, but in the end, the film stayed more accesible to the teen mainstream by keeping a PG-13 rating.
