My 34th Birthday in Hollywood: A Nice Shirt and “Casablanca”

I had had some cake the night before at The Smoke House courtesy of my friends, but other than that, I pretty much forgot that Sunday, October 2, 2005 was even my birthday. The day was packed with things to do so there wasn’t time to think of such things. We kicked off the morning with a nice hearty breakfast at the Burbank Airport Marriott Hotel & Convention Center where we had stayed the night. Bob and I awoke bright and early in Colonial Beach on Sunday, August 5, 2007. It was going to be one of those days that have enough activities packed into it to last anyone else a week or more. We checked out of Doc’s Motor Court and chatted with the nice lady whose husband had built the place. She sent us on our way with some suggestions for things to do in the area. Of course we already had a relativley strict schedule we needed to stick to in order to get even half of the items on our itinerary accomplished. Our first stop – naturally – was at McDonalds to fuel our bodies for the day.
The centerpiece around which the whole weekend celebration in Los Angeles took place was the Way Out West Tent’s 40th Anniversary Banquet which occurred Saturday evening, July 28, 2007 at the Westin Los Angeles Airport Hotel. Following our bus tour of Culver City, there was just a dab of time to check into our room and relax a bit. It was decided just hours before that I would be splitting a room at the Westin with my pal David so we got into our room, changed into our dress garb, and prepared for an exciting night with our Sons of the Desert friends.
