So are you asking yourself what would possess me to pack a grip and head to New York via airplane, stay less than 24 hours and then head home? Well I’ll tell you in two words: Chiller Theatre. This show is the eastern equivalent of the Hollywood Collectors Show that takes place in Burbank and is remarkably attended with some big names, even many who never make it to the west coast shows. When my longtime friend Bill Cappello suggested that I attend the show on April 18, 2009, I though that it would be highly unlikely, until I saw the impressive line-up. Read the rest of this entry »
I knew that at least one aspect of our Guatamalan week-long excursion was going to be outstanding when Bob and I made our way down to our hotel restaurant first thing on the morning of Sunday, March 29, 2009. We were welcomed witha mammoth breakfast buffet which not only included the staples eggs, bacon, sausages, breads, cereals, fruits, yogurts, etc. – but also an omelette chef, cheeses, deli meats, and several latin delicacies such as plantains, chilaquiles en salsa roja, black beans, and an array of exotic juices: banana milk, cucumber orange, mango, and many others. We got up bright and early and left our motel in Independence at about 7:30am. A return visit to the Alabama Hills restaurant kicked off the day, where this time I went for the generic bacon and eggs while Bob stuck with the Eggs Benedict.
The question that I got the most pertaining to my most recent trip to Guatemala was “So why are you going to Guatemala?” The answer was simple enough: No reason really. My friend Bob was looking for his 42nd foreign country to visit and Guatemala seemed as good as a place as any. Many say that the culture and landscape are enticing, so I decided that I’d tag along in touring this foreign and exotic country. This was my first trip with the A.C.T. (Adult Customized Tours) group that is based out of Palm Springs, CA. The only bad thing about the all-inclusive trip was that it left and returned to Los Angeles only, so I was forced to buy a round-trip ticket to L.A.
