Chasing the Honeymooners

Friday, December 8th, 2006

honey3.jpgOne of the first autographs I received after delving into the hobby in early 1985 was from Audrey Meadows, who played the role of Alice in one of my favorite television series The Honeymooners. I sent out the request sometime in mid-May and the photo returned on May 31. She was kind enough to sign a cast shot in bold, beautiful purple, along with a pair of notecards.  Read the rest of this entry »

Hi Bob!

newhart_200.jpgYesterday I opened the mailbox and was greeted with a large yellow package. These are always fun. I shredded the envelope and got stuffing all over the floor, but after that catastrophe was cleaned up, I slid out the new book by Bob Newhart, “I Shouldn’t Even Be Doing This! (and Other Things That Strike Me as Funny)”

Newhart is one of my idols. His arid sense of humor and timing have been the source of a tremendous deal of laughter in my family. I have an extensive video collection of all four of his television series “The Bob Newhart Show,” “Newhart,” “Bob,” and “George and Leo.” Although I have never had the chance to meet him, he has signed a few autographs for me through the mail (one is pictured at bottom). Superman vs. Supercamp

Saturday, October 14th, 2006

superman.jpgI have recently been mulling my way through the first season of the original TV series The Adventures of Superman. SEASON 1 – NBC

seinfeld

Theme music by Jonathan Wolff

  • 001. The Seinfeld Chronicles (Pilot) – 7/5/1989
    • Opening monologue: being ‘out’. Jerry Seinfeld (himself) is a stand-up comedian living in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, hanging out with his friend George Costanza (Jason Alexander), and observing life. His neighbor Kessler (known in subsequent episodes as Kramer) (Michael Richards), is a freeloader who frequently barges in on Jerry with crazy ideas and questions. In the premiere episode Jerry, with George’s help, tries to figure out the intentions of a woman named Laura (Pamela Brull), a woman that he met while touring in Michigan, when she comes for a visit to New York City. Just when he thinks that she wants to get together with him, she tells him that she’s engaged. Closing monologue: no idea what women are thinking. Lee Garlington stars as Claire the waitress. 12/30/13 Read the rest of this entry »
