Ed Begley Pushes the Rug Back In

I swear I was beginning to develop a complex when it came to Ed Begley Jr.. If it had happened just one more time, his name would have entered the lexicon of trite phrases where to pull a ‘Begley’ would mean that you don’t bother to show up. Literally this dated back to 2015 when the Hollywood Show first announced him as a guest, and he ended up cancelling. Sure, happens all the time, right? But I got excited again when his name re-appeared in 2017 on both the Chiller and Hollywood Show list. I figured between one of the two, I couldn’t miss him. Nope. He cancelled both. I returned with my Dad from North Carolina, WrestleCade, and Fort Bragg (and a couple of Diners, Drive-Ins and Drives for good measure) on the evening of Monday, November 28, 2016, to the smiling face of Carolyn who was dragging Christmas tree stuff upstairs, and some delightful little muffins. But that’s not all I returned to: I had a pretty unbelievable celebrity encounter coming up the next day, and as you’ve probably guessed from the photo, it was with the Boss himself. No, not Hal Roach, not Carolyn, not Silas, not my boss Debbie from work… this was THE Boss that everyone knows.

In one regard it seemed like a pretty odd idea to have a reunion of actors from this obscure entry in the Halloween series at the HorrorHound Weekend on September 11, 2016. But then again, I ended up being glad that they chose go with these players from the sixth entry, The Curse of Michael Myers. Even though it’s just the type of movie that I can’t honestly remember whether I’ve ever seen it or not, the cast was made up of a pretty diverse group of performers who, if I didn’t want them necessarily for their participation in this, had done some other interesting things. And they all ended up being such lovely people that I’ve now actually anxious to visit – or re-visit, whichever the case may be – this film.
