More American Graffiti

It seems that my quest to get my American Graffiti 8×10 movie poster reproduction signed by members of the cast has become almost as iconic – at least in my life – as the movie itself. I consider the film to be one of the all-time classics and my efforts to get this photo signed have been unlike any other movie. I only wish I could say that I’ve met each person whom I’ve had sign it, but I’m still lacking a few of them. You can see the original posting with links to the other actors here. Until I met her, I don’t think I had ever seen her with her top on… but hey, who’s complaining? My association with Samantha Fox is somewhat interesting in that I had never seen her in an issue of the British Tabloid The Sun, where she first garnered her fame as a “Page 3” girl…nor have I ever heard a single note of her music. I suppose you’d call it a bit of a ‘nostalgia thing’ for me.
It didn’t take much prodding to get my Dad to go along with me to Pittsburgh. I think he felt just as excited about meeting George “The Animal” Steele as I was. Carolyn on the other hand wasn’t all that thrilled at the prospect, so she decided that it wasn’t worth requesting off for – since there’d be so many other worthy requests. So Dad agreed to go, then Carolyn got off without asking, but then got asked to work on the Saturday of the show – April 12, 2014 – so it ended up just being Dad and me disembarking at around 6am that morning.
I can honestly say that the coolest thing about getting to meet Joan Collins is to be the official owner of the bragging rights that enable you to say “I met Joan Collins.” I mentioned long ago when I met her co-star
