Barry Bostwick – Dammit!

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

bostwick.jpgI don’t think that anybody would argue that despite Barry Bostick’s one-hundred or so roles in films and television, his most notorious appearance came early in his career when he portrayed Brad Majors – a hero – in the 1975 ultra-cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. His second most notable role was as Mayor Winston in the popular Michael J. Fox sitcom Spin City. Of course, I am not the average fan – so I naturally have chosen a completely obsure role to call my very favorite. Read the rest of this entry »

ja9.jpgWhen I first began to plan my October 2008 trip to California nearly a year before it took place, there were four goals that I had in mind which I hoped to accomplish while there – and I had no idea if any of the four would even be possible to arrange. Soon things began to really take shape and not long before I left, I had made arrangements to make three of them actually happen – and these all will be covered in this series of postings. I will go ahead and tell you the fourth since it didn’t happen: an old high school friend is employed by NBC in the publicity department and I had hoped to set up a private tour of the facility and sets. She didn’t seem to think that there was anything of interest that she could show me (or perhaps she just didn’t want to), so that prospect was quickly nixed. Turns out her job took her to New York before I even arrived in California, so it wouldn’t have worked out anyway. Read the rest of this entry »

Valley Forge Convention ’86: Saturday in Philly

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

vf6.jpgI was up and rarin’ to go on the morning of Saturday, July 26, 1986. The Valley Forge Sons of the Convention was officially underway and we had a day ahead of us packed with fun events. The first item on the agenda was the Pee-Wee Contest at 9am. At this juncture in Sons history, the Pee-Wee Contest was only two years old, having originated at the ’84 convention in Ulverston, England – which my family did not attend. This was my first crack at the contest, and my showing was poor – setting the precedent for nearly all future Pee-Wee Contests (with the sole exception being the one that I won in 2006). I also started snapping photos right away – for the first time with my new Pentax, the first 35mm camera I ever owned. Read the rest of this entry »

Anthony Munoz and the Associate Manager Outing

anthony-munoz-at.jpgI don’t talk about work a whole lot on my website, unless it is something dramatically significant – like a job switch or friends who I have made through work. I enjoy my job and am thankful for it, but the day-to-day activities wouldn’t hold much interest to the average reader – and of course, there’s always the risk of saying something stupid and getting fired! But seriously, the second week of September saw a couple of work-related events actually worth reporting. Read the rest of this entry »

styx8.jpgAs Lisa and I settled into our new apartment at the Peppertree Villas on 1455 Bell Pepper Court, Apartment 203, she and I went about our business of unpacking and decorating while awaiting the arrival of Summer – not that we didn’t continue to take part in numerous activites all the while. As we attended school and worked in the front office at Kroger Beavercreek, we remained busy babysitting Ashleigh and Briana, hosting parties, hanging out with friends – and I kept involved with my Sons of the Desert tent, collecting autographs, and watching movies. The following is a synopsis of some of the memorable events (at least for me) from that time period as recorded in my little pocket planner…culminating with one massive Big Seven concert as we rolled into Summer.
