It was within the past couple of years that I was watching Better Off Dead and became intrigued by the adorable girl who played foreign exchange student Monique. Ah, Monique. But anyway, I actually went to the effort of looking her up on Wikipedia, wondering whatever had become of her – and mostly was curious as to whether she was still smokin’ hot in her mid-40’s. On Saturday, April 24, I got my answer. But I nearly bypassed my opportunity to get an autograph and photo with her. Read the rest of this entry »

Miss Teschmacher!!!

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Valerie Perrine’s real breakout role came in 1974, when she starred as the wife of comedian Lenny Bruce in the film Lenny. For this role, she was nominated for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. She then went on to some acclaim when she played Mrs. W.C. Fields (Carlotta Monti) in W.C. Fields and Me. It is my duty to tell you of these achievements and acclaimed roles, but for a Superman buff such as myself, the real important part that she played was that of Eve Teschmacher in both Superman and Superman II. As the busty live-in mistress of the villainous Lex Luthor, her change of heart eventually allows her to help Superman escape Lex’s evil clutches. Read the rest of this entry »

The Blair Wait Project

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

I don’t think I’ve ever waited in a line for so long for any other celebrity I’ve ever met. Notice that I didn’t say it was necessarily a long line…I just don’t think I’ve ever waited longer. For this performance, she was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe Award. Read the rest of this entry »

Continuing on with the final two Mouseketeers who were party of the Mickey Mouse Club reunion at the Saturday, April 24, 2010, Hollywood Show in Burbank… The first of these was the adorable Karen Pendleton. She was one of the nine original Mouseketeers who would be part of the show from 1955-58, spanning its entire three-year run. She would then go on to tour Australia for the next two years with other Mouseketeers and Head Mouseketeer Jimmie Dodd. Read the rest of this entry »

Mouseketeer Round-Up: Part One

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

One of the many cool things about the Hollywood Show in Burbank being held on Saturday, April 24, 2010, was the fact that they were having a great Mouseketeer reunion of kids from The Mickey Mouse Club. Two of those present were Cubby O’Brien and Tommy Kirk who I had met before (as you can see by clicking on their names). And although they weren’t technically Mouseketeers, Tim Considine and David Stollery, who portrayed Spin and Marty in serial installments on the Mickey Mouse Club were also present (and I’ve covered them in a Spin and Marty posting). In addition to these four were five more of the original Mouseketeers, three of who will be covered here, the remaining two in the next posting. Read the rest of this entry »
