Where’s Waldo…

…coming from? Figuring out what made Janet Waldo tick might even be more difficult than finding the other Waldo in a crowd of greedy celebrities. If you are not familiar with the name Janet Waldo, I can bet that you’ve probably heard her voice at some point in your life. She provided voices for all kinds of cartoons, radio shows, commercials, and even a Disney World ride. Her most famous voice-over was probably for that of Judy Jetson in The Jetsons. She can also be heard in the The Flintstones, Wacky Races, The Perils of Penelope Pitstop, Josie and the Pussycats, The Smurfs, and The Chipmunks – just to name a small handful. Of course I’ll try to meet Laverne. And don’t call me Shirley. Frankly, I’m amazed that Penny Marshall – who is best known as playing Laverne DeFazio, one half of the zany gal pal team in Laverne & Shirley – is even appearing at celebrity shows. Surely she’s moved on to bigger and better things. Of course she has. Things like being an acclaimed director of films such as Big, Awakenings, and A League of Their Own. Things like producing the amazing film Cinderella Man. And don’t call me Shirley. 
Movies do not get much more odd – or memorable – than A Clockwork Orange. Ive seen it several times, and each time come away more disturbed than the last time. The principal actor in the film is Malcolm McDowell who plays the youthful and violent Alex, whose crimes lead to a prosecution and eventual sensitization to violent acts (the tongs that keep his eyes open have forever haunted me). It ends up coming back around to bite him when he is unable to defend himself once he becomes the victim of crimes similar to the ones that he had previously perpetrated. Sound fun? 
It just so happened that I had checked the website that highlights celebrity books signings around the country, when I happened on an upcoming one in Cincinnati. I wasn’t a gigantic fan of Regis Philbin, but I had enjoyed him well enough on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?, and of course loved his guest appearance on Seinfeld in which he played himself amd has a hilarous encounter with Kramer on his show. I’m a working man, so I haven’t had many chances to see Live! with Regis and Kathy Lee or with Regis and Kelly or with any other incarnation.
