Autograph Fever
Wednesday, November 15th, 2006
I began the era of the late 1980’s with one thing on my mind: collecting autographs. 1985 saw a renewal in my interest of the fine art of the famous signature. While I had really began my collection in 1980 at the Hollywood Sons of the Desert convention (click here), and then took up the hobby again in sixth grade (under the influence of my school teacher) – it wasn’t until 1985 when the hobby really began to take flight.
On February 2, 1990, Christi’s brother Keith and I travelled from their home in Beavercreek to Fairborn to meet two guys from the heavy metal band Whitesnake. These members were Adrian Vandenberg and Rudy Sarzo and they were making an appearance at the music store Absolute Music (not a record store, but a store that sells musical instruments) in support of their 1989 album Slip of the Tongue.

Yesterday I opened the mailbox and was greeted with a large yellow package. These are always fun. I shredded the envelope and got stuffing all over the floor, but after that catastrophe was cleaned up, I slid out the new book by Bob Newhart, “I Shouldn’t Even Be Doing This! (and Other Things That Strike Me as Funny)”
