Patsy Barry 2005

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

patsy3.jpgAlthough Patsy Barry, who was one incarnation of “Baby Patsy” in the Our Gang films, had few appearances – and generally no fanfare – in the Little Rascals, it was still a tremendous pleasure to meet her. I first got the chance during the Hollywood Collectors Show in October of 2005. She had a very nice child portrait of herself, displayed at left, along with a couple of Our Gang stills in which she can be seen. To be honest, I have never picked her out in an actual film. Dante’s Info #13

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

di13.jpgI really wanted to make Dante’s Info #13 something special. Despite the unlucky number in the series (I denoted it as issue NUMBER 13! – exclamation included), my desire was for this really to be a breakout issue. Beginning with this edition, my Dad and I were now exclusively creating these on his computer as a Quark Express document, no longer relying on independent scans of the photos being made to paste into the issue before it was sent to the printer. Fresh back from my Hollywood and Florida trip with tons of new material in hand, I thought that this issue could really put me on the map of fine Sons of the Desert publications. Princess Leia

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

leia.jpgWhat can you say about meeting a cast member of the original Star Wars? On Sunday, October 2, 2005, Bob and I returned to the Hollywood Collectors Show for one sole reason: this was the only day that Carrie Fisher would be appearing. Bob opted not to purchase one of her signed photos for the low, low price of just $30.00, so I waited in line with my friend Steve Cox. Steve brought his own blue gelatin pen – perfect for signing dark photos. Read the rest of this entry »

A Super Villain

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

non2.jpgMost people wouldn’t know Jack O’Halloran from a jack-o’-lantern if it wasn’t for his appearance as Non, the mute super villain from the planet Krypton in Superman and Superman II. I, of course, have a Superman fetish so I was well aware of who he was. Therefore I had already requested that Bob pick me up an autographed photo of him when he made an appearance at a Hollywood Collectors Show. And naturally when I saw him at a later show in October of 2005, I rushed over to him and asked if I could pose for a photo with him. Read the rest of this entry »

A Package of Cool Stuff from Jean Darling

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

jean.jpgI didn’t get the chance to actually meet Our Gang member Jean Darling until the Nashville convention in 2002, but I was thrilled that she actually knew my name as soon as she heard it. We had exchanged some letters and such over the years, the first being her response to the letter and $9.00 I sent her on December 17, 1985. Jean was offering a package deal of six autographed 5.5″ x 8.5″ photos, nine signed notecards, and her book and cassette tape that she had created as her radio personality Aunty Poppy. The photos can be seen at right, below, and in the posting here. Read the rest of this entry »
