Julie McCullough

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

julie1Of all of the celebrities whom I met at the Hollywood Celebrities Show in Chicago on Sweetest Day, October 17, 2009, Julie McCullough was perhaps the sweetest of them all. Although she is most noted as being the February 1986 Playboy Playmate who was fired from her role on Growing Pains when Kirk Cameron became an evangelical Christian and had her canned, I was most interested in talking to her about something completely different. Her great great uncle (or someone in that proximity of the family tree) was Paul McCullough, one half of the unique 1930’s comedy team Clark and McCullough. Oh, and she was still pretty hot too. And Representing the Lollipop Guild…

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

jerry2Among the sea of midget actors and actresses in the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, one of the faces everyone would be sure to recognize is that of Jerry Maren. Standing three feet, four inches at the time, nineteen-year old Jerry was the middle member of the Lollipop Guild, the trio of Munchkins who hand Dorothy a giant lollipop upon her arrival to Oz. Ace’s Pal Richie

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

richie2Richie Scarlet is not a Big 7 member, but he plays one on stage. He had worked with former KISS member Ace Frehley in the first incarnations of his solo band and then returned to be a prominent player on this third solo studio album Trouble Walkin’. This album was cool in that it was technically as much of the original KISS as KISS themselves then were, as it also featured drummer Peter Criss as a guest performer on a few tracks. It All Started With Candy

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

candy-clarkAlthough Candy Clark has a handful of film credits, her most famous role by far was in American Graffiti. She portrayed the blonde Connie Stevens-ish Debbie Dunham so well that she was nominated for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She always fascinated me in this role in her shy but sexy portrayal of this mysterious woman capable of getting Terry the Toad into all sorts of trouble. Candy might also be seen in such films as The Big Sleep, Cat’s Eye, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Zodiac. Read the rest of this entry »

Tony Burton as Duke

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

duke2Only three actors have appeared in all six of the films in the Rocky series: Sylvester Stallone, Burt Young, and Tony Burton. Burton, who began his career as a real-life boxer, played Tony “Duke” Evers in the films. He did such a great job in the series’ first entries as the trainer of Apollo Creed, that he eventually became Rocky’s trainer. His film career didn’t stretch too far outside of the Rocky series, but he did have appearances in such films as Assault on Precinct 13, The Toy, and Hook – as well as a slew of television roles.
