Collecting autographs and meeting celebrities for as long as I have teaches you a few things. For one, when you see someone particularly old – say over 90, for example – who is selling autographed photos of themselves, you’d better pay pretty close attention as to who they are. Because needless to say, there likely won’t be any more chances to get them. And secondly, if they have a photo of themselves with the Beatles on their table, it’s probably worth snatching up. As faithful readers know, over the last couple of years I’ve been working my way through collecting autographs and photo ops with the actors/stuntmen who portrayed mass murderer Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th franchise. I had been nearing completion when I struck paydirt in the Fall of 2013 when I (nearly) completed my collection of Jason at two different events one week apart. Of course as an devotee of the series knows, The Final Chapter doesn’t always mean the FINAL chapter. But for right now, one might say I’m pretty darn complete.
After a long day at Disneyland, it’s always nice to have a rather leisurely morning the day after, and that’s exactly what we did on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. There’s never any shortage of laughs when I’m at David’s house, what with quoting someone or something, or watching skewed Brady Bunch clips on YouTube, trying to get ready between the fits of cracking up. Eventually we composed ourselves and headed out to Los Angeles to meet Jimmy at his office. We milled about there briefly and then hit the road for the trek to Malibu Creek State Park, arriving a little bit after 11:00am.
