acey1The rock band KISS, more than anything, defined several periods of my life, beginning as far back as first grade, at which time they were busy taking the world by storm. My fellow schoolmates and I lived, breathed, and ate KISS – collecting records, trading cards, t-shirts, and any other toy that could be marketed. I actually enjoyed the music too. This of course is why no matter who they put behind the make-up these days, KISS will always be Gene, Paul, Ace, and Peter. I accept no substitutes. I have already covered my two-plus encounters with drummer Peter Criss, and now I will finally bring to light two encounters with guitarist Ace Frehley. Read the rest of this entry »

Hillbilly Jim and Superfly

wre4I never get tired of seeing the wrestlers that I enjoyed watching on television and occasionally checking out during live matches at Hara Arena. So it was fun to come upon yet another pair (they always seem to come in pairs, don’t they?) at the Fanboy Expo in Knoxville, Tennessee, on October 26, 2012. The first, and larger or the two, was Hillbilly Jim, who was lesser known by his real name Jim Morris. Read the rest of this entry »

dd21After the vodka exposure from the night before, it was nothing short of a miracle that I was able to get up, get ready, and make my way downstairs to the lobby at 9:30am to meet up with The Wileys and David for the breakfast buffet at the Cafe in the Park restaurant in the hotel. The Determinator

linda2I had an ‘in’ when I met Linda Hamilton, and I was determined to get some special treatment as a result. She of course is best know to the general public as the character Sarah Connor in The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Some may also know her as Catherine Chandler in the TV series Beauty and the Beast. But what I knew that most of her typical fans don’t is a bit about her family history. In fact I used to date one of her relatives. My ex-girlfriend Erin‘s great-grandmother was sister to Linda Hamilton’s grandmother. Read the rest of this entry »

Matlock’s Right Hand Maiden

Tuesday, January 8th, 2013

ns3It was fun to watch the TV drama series Matlock on Sunday evenings or on sick day afternoons. The show wasn’t breaking any entertainment records, but it was certainly pleasant enough fare – especially for fans of Andy Griffith and his homespun southern disposition. I had watched it now and then through the years and liked it enough to be interested in meeting any of the co-stars whom I happened to run into. I had already crossed passed with Matlock’s TV daughter Linda Purl in 2001, and at the Hollywood Show in Burbank on August 4, 2012, I got to meet her second-season replacement, Nancy Stafford, who would star as Matlock’s new friend and law partner Michelle Thomas from seasons 2-6.
