American Shannon

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

Quite easy on the eyes, Shannon Elizabeth was a no-brainer as to whether I was going to shell out the cash to get a signed photo and pose for a picture with her (even at $45 for the combo). She may not be Marilyn Monroe, but I for one instantly had her faced burned on my brain after her appearance in the 1999 smash teen comedy American Pie. She’d go on to star in its first sequel American Pie 2 and will be appearing in the upcoming American Reunion as well. Read the rest of this entry »

Darth Freakin’ Maul

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

I don’t really care what else he’s done. I don’t care if he’s had a recurring role on Heroes or played the Headless Horseman in Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow. He was the martial arts expert and actor behind Darth Maul, the coolest villain to turn up onscreen in a long time. So whether or not I’m a huge fan of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace in all its dippy Jar Jar Binks glory, I loved watching any scene with Ray Park as he had portrayed Darth Maul. Nurse Ratched

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

As a big fan and follower of the Academy Awards, there’s just no thrill quite like meeting the recipient of one of the major Oscars. There is no woman alive who could have done a better job at portraying the attractive yet cold Nurse Racthed in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, for which Louise Fletcher won the Oscar for Best Actress in 1975. She has never found a role quite like that one, but she was nominated for an Emmy for her appearance as Christine Bey in one of my all-time favorite dramatic shows Picket Fences. TV Tarzan and Old Superman

Sunday, February 19th, 2012

I had been mostly unfamiliar with Ron Ely when I met him at the Chicago Hollywood Show on October 1, 2011 – although it had only been less-than four months earlier that I had seen him during the screening of an episode of Superboy called The Road to Hell at the 2010 Superman Celebration in Metropolis. In this film, he played the ‘future’ retired version of Superman – so you could say, that he did in fact once play the man 0f (albeit flabby) steel. So when I met him, I recognized him from that (although not putting it together at the time). But Ron Ely’s real claim to fame was that he had starred as the lead in the NBC TV series Tarzan from 1966-1968. Read the rest of this entry »

Cora Sue Collins

Sunday, February 19th, 2012

I can’t say that I honestly knew who Cora Sue Collins was, but before even meeting her, I was very impressed with her acting résumé. I hadn’t yet seen a single film in which she had appeared, but as Oscar nominees or obvious classics, I knew that one day I’d get around to checking them out and then I’d regret not having obtained a signature of this former child actress. Among these credits were Smilin’ Through, Naughty Marietta, The Scarlet Letter, Anna Karenina, Johnny Doughboy, and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Read the rest of this entry »
