Diosa Costello – Bim Bam Bum

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

She most certainly wasn’t your typical Laurel and Hardy leading lady, but Diosa Costello was about as close as we came to having one in their 1945 feature film The Bullfighters. She even had a rousing musical number called Bim Bam Bum, which although some may claim it has no place in a Laurel and Hardy film, I quite enjoy. Even as of this writing, Diosa Costello is one of a very, very few number of L&H co-stars who are still living. Unfortunately, in the intervening years, we have lost track of her. Sally Kirkland

Tuesday, February 28th, 2012

I’ve gotta be honest: when it comes to Sally Kirkland, I knew almost nothing about her. But when it comes to the Academy Awards, I know plenty. Jackie Joseph

I wasn’t all that familiar with Jackie Joseph, but after taking the time to look into her career before I got the chance to meet her, I found that her vocation had taken her all across the dial in film and on television. She was present as part of the Josie and the Pussycats reunion (for which she voiced Melody) at the Hollywood Show on February 12, 2011. I took more interest in her TV appearances in shows such as The Andy Griffith Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Doris Day Show, Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C., The Brady Bunch, and Newhart. Los Angeles Weekend, February 2012

Monday, February 27th, 2012

Make no mistake. It’s never exactly a cakewalk getting to and from Los Angeles. And thanks to the folks at American Airlines and their seeming inability to keep a flight schedule, the getting to and fro was downright miserable this time around. But even with all of that crap, it was still wonderful to get away from Ohio and visit time with an impressive number of good friends in the western portion of America. Read the rest of this entry »
