Zonies

I’ve had a tremendous affinity for the classic series The Twilight Zone since I was a young kid. In fact I think I added the definitive book about the series The Twilight Zone Companion to my collection in about 1982, and read it from cover-to-cover, often taking it to church with me to read during the service. During the late 1990’s I was able to assemble nearly a complete collection of TZ episodes on VHS tapes as they ran them on the Sci-Fi channel. Eventually, I replaced them season by season on DVD. Damone

Sunday, December 11th, 2011

I think that Fast Times at Ridgemont High is one of the great American teenage high school romps. It presents teen life in a fun way, but doesn’t glorify any of the pitfalls of sex, drugs, or ticket scalping. Robert Romanus played the ultra-cool always-in-control Mike Damone, for whom things begin to unravel slowly. His protégé Rat is under Damone’s constant advisement in the dating department, and it’s during one of these exchanges that Romanus utters my favorite line of the movie: “This shyness routine is really starting to aggravate me.” Read the rest of this entry »
