Everybody Holds Denise

den5.jpgWell, after Denise was born on April 8, 1976, it was pretty much downhill from there. No, just kidding…but it is true that she had her share of problems. She had a problem with keeping her milk down while still in the nursery, and by the time she had reached the age of six weeks, she had another severe problem: an infection known as thrush. This horrendous illness covered the insides of her mouth with sores so it caused trememdous pain whenever she ate. She had been on solid foods already when she was stricken with this, but had to return to milk. Everytime she was fed, it would induce howls of pain…from all of us, I’m sure. pie2.jpgMy friend Bob Satterfield would tell you that he has now been exonerated from feeling any guilt about the big pie fight at the Hollywood ’80 convention. He would tell you that I had my chance to get into another pie fight at the 2006 Sons of the Desert convention in Augusta, Georgia, so I have no right to be sore about not being able to get into the pie fight due to my age – or lack of it. But he would be wrong – and I have never let him live down the fact that the convention organizers set an age limit well beyond my eight years required to enter the pie fight. Janet Leigh at the Neon Movies ’95

jl2.jpgMy obsession with Alfred Hitchcock can be traced all the way back to 1980 – as proven with my childhood diary entries – and the catalyst for this admiration began with the movie Psycho. To this day, I find this movie absolutely mesmerizing with its haunting set pieces and the riveting performances of its principles Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, Vera Miles, and Martin Balsam. But it wasn’t until 1988 after my visit to California that I decided to pursue collecting autographs of performers who worked in Alfred Hitchcock movies. Read the rest of this entry »

day7.jpgWe were all feeling rather haggard come Wednesday morning, September 26. We had all spent Monday at Disney World and Denise, Aaron, Ashleigh, and I had returned and spent all day Tuesday there too. Mom and Bob babysat Adam all day, so I’m sure they were rather exhausted as well. I didn’t feel too shabby after assisting Aaron with his Epcot around-the-world-drinking spree.
