Senior Prom 1990
Monday, November 20th, 2006
Christi and I attended Prom on April 21, 1990 – exactly one month after our baby Ashleigh was born. It was a great night and Christi looked stunning (of course, it didn’t hurt that she was nursing Ashleigh, and thus carrying a ‘fuller’ figure than normal). We began our evening with a nice dinner alone at a local Kettering Chinese restaurant called Keeng Wha – long gone now. At the previous prom, we had gone with a group of friends, but this time Christi talked me into doing the driving…and driving my Mom’s cool red Firebird at that. Read the rest of this entry »
Just two days after Easter 1980, Denise celebrated her fourth birthday on April 8. While I don’t pretend to remember the specifics of this event, I found two photos of her with her cake. The celebration here was taking place in our dining room. Visible in the photo below is something even more interesting than the cake: the world’s tackiest napkin holder sitting on top of the de-humidifier in our dining room.
The 15th International Sons of the Desert Convention kicked off officially on Wednesday night, July 12, 2006. Bob, Ashleigh, and I had made our own excursions to Atlanta, Americus, Plains, and Warm Springs before our initial arrival in Augusta. Then travelled along with some Sons on the two pre-convention trips back to Americus and Plains and then to Savannah to see the area. Now we were back at home base in and Augusta ready to dive into the convention activities.
I’m not really sure why my Grandpa F decided to snap these two photos of people getting their hair cut, but I’m glad he did. I guess this proves that we share the same blood. At left is my Grandma getting her new ‘do’ in 1961 from Mrs. Happensack, the neighbor across the street. Below are two shots of my Dad, the first showing him getting his hair cut by his Uncle Joe in November 1958. He was the husband of my Grandma’s sister Bessie. Below that is the aftermath of said haircut.
To the best of my knowledge, the first time I ever visited my old house on John Glenn since 1973 was today. Often I have driven by the street and seen the “John Glenn” street sign, but never had I taken the time to actually find the house that I lived in for almost two years – the first ones of my life.
