cdb5Sometimes an actor’s credits are so neck-and-neck equally important to me that I have a hard time deciding which photo to buy (that is, if I don’t go ahead and just buy both ie. Patty Duke, Mark Metcalf, Anthony Michael Hall, Veronica Cartwright, etc.). On this particular occasion though, I forced myself to make a choice when I met Christopher Daniel Barnes at the Knoxville Fanboy Expo on June 6, 2015.

If you don’t already know who Christopher Daniel Barnes is, then I’ll go ahead and tell you; after all that’s why I’m here. I knew him best for his portrayal of Greg Brady in the Brady Bunch re-tool movies The Brady Bunch Movie and A Very Brady Sequel. All the kids were outstanding in that film, but as far as sheer belly laughs, I think he took the prize, putting a little spin on the character to make him a bit more naive and square than Barry Williams ever was. I’d love to meet all the new Brady kids, and so far Barnes is now my second following my meeting with Jennifer Elise Cox.

On the other hand, Mr. Barnes also provided one of the voices of one of the most successful of the new-era Walt Disney animated classics as Prince Eric. I never pass up an opportunity for a classic Disney voice, so this guy basically had me at ‘hello.’

There is a chance that I would have gone ahead and bought one of each from him, at $25 a pop, but the problem was that his only shot as ‘Greg Brady’ was a head shot without any context to the film. No cast shots, not standing in the boys’ bedroom, just a head albeit a curly one. So I opted for The Little Mermaid.

Of course, if for some reason neither of those roles had meant much to me, there were others that might have piqued someone’s interest: providing the voice of Peter Parker in the 1994 animated Spider-Man series, his role in the Starman TV series, appearances on sitcoms like The Golden Girls, Herman’s Head, Blossom, Empty Nest, and Wings (reprising his Greg Brady role).

Whatever you prefer, it was a cool encounter and he was a nice guy, allowing a free photo with the purchase not only for me, but for Carolyn as well. He was really happening in a far out way.
