• 001. Enter the Lone Ranger – 9/15/1949
  • During the mid-1860’s in the Southwest Territory, lawlessness rules over the settlers, which prompts a band of Texas Rangers to bring order to the land. A half-breed named Vince Collins (George Lewis) is shot by the notorious Cavendish gang and offers to lead the Rangers to the gang. However it turns out that Collins works for Butch Cavendish (Glenn Strange) and ends up leading Captain Reid (Tristram Coffin) and his five rangers into an ambush where they are all presumably shot and killed. Butch then shoots Collins as well and leaves him for dead. Captain Reid’s younger brother John Reid (Clayton Moore) has survived the attack and crawls to safety. Collins also survives his wounds. Native American Tonto (Jay Silverheels) finds Reid and nurses him back to health, recalling the fact that Reid, whom he refers to as “kemosabe,” which means “trusty scout”, once saved Tonto’s life when his family massacred by a hostile Indian tribe. Reid vows to dedicate his life to bringing criminals to justice while wearing a mask and being known only as the Lone Ranger. Tonto buries the five Texas Rangers and creates a fake grave for Reid. Collins recovers and begins shooting at Tonto and the Lone Ranger from a secure spot in the rocks, presumably to steal Tonto’s horse Scout. Tonto climbs up and approaches him from behind and is nearly shot before the Lone Ranger shoots the gun out of his hand. The Lone Ranger begins climbing the rock as Collins stands above him ready to drop a giant rock on him. The series is sponsored by General Mills. Jack Rube Clifford is Jerry, Cavedish’s henchman. • 002. The Lone Ranger Fights On – 9/22/1949
  • The Lone Ranger escapes Collins when he falls off the rock to his death. In search of a horse, the Lone Ranger kills a buffalo that is about to gore an injured horse. He and Tonto nurse him back to health and name him Silver, letting him go free until Silver ultimately decides to become his horse. They then head to the town of Colby in search of the Cavendish gang and to see the Lone Ranger’s old friend Jim Blaine (Ralph Littlefield). They discover that Cavendish has been slaughtering the town’s prominent leaders in hopes of replacing them with his own gang, and trying to blame the murders on Blaine, who shoots Cavendish before he escapes. The Lone Ranger takes Blaine to an old silver mine cottage to hide, and Tonto fetches Sheriff Two-Gun Taylor (Walter Sande) and enlists his help. Cavendish’s gang kidnaps Doc Drummond (George Chesebro) to nurse Cavendish’s wounds. The Lone Ranger and Taylor track the gang and capture them, while Tonto tries to get more help in Colby. But as the Lone Ranger is gathering their horses, he hears Cavendish’s larger gang on their way to rescue them. The Lone Ranger has an idea and returns to Cavendish. 6/22/15
• 003. The Lone Ranger Triumphs – 9/29/1949
  • Cavendish and his men overpower Sheriff Taylor and Doc Drummond and hold them as prisoner. Tonto arrives back in Colby to gather Assistant Sheriff Creel (Lee Roberts) and a posse, but Corey (Guy Wilkerson), one of Cavendish’s men who has assumed the role of a deputy, sends him away and then sends a man to try and kill him. Tonto overpowers the man and returns to the Lone Ranger and they are able to capture Cavendish. The Lone Ranger knows that Cavendish is pretending to be unconscious so he leaks false information about a nearby cavalry and lets Cavendish remain where he is. This causes Cavendish and his gang to waste time trying to find the Lone Ranger and cavalry, when really he, Tonto, the Sheriff, and Doc have returned to Colby where they systematically arrest all of Cavendish’s men who have assumed positions in Colby. They return to Cavendish and his men with a posse and overpower them and throw them all in jail, effectively obliterating the gang. The Lone Ranger decides to leave his mask on and continue his fight for justice, while Cavendish and Sheriff Taylor wonder who exactly who the masked man was. 7/19/15
• 004. Legion of Old Timers – 10/6/1949
  • When the prosperous Circle K ranch is bequeathed to the owner’s son Bob Kittredge (DeForest Kelly) who returns from the east to run it, outlaw Red Devers (Norman Willis) and his gang hatch a plan to swipe it. They rob foreman Banty Bishop (Emmett Lynn) of the payroll and frame him by burying it in his backyard. Kittredge fires Bishop, and soon Devers has taken over the ranch, fired the ranch hands, replaced them with his men, and are holding Kittredge hostage. When the Lone Ranger catches wind that Devers has put up signs to sell the land, he becomes suspicious. He meets up with Bishop and comes up with a plan whereby the Lone Ranger will meet with Devers disguised as an old timer, and make an offer on the land on behalf of his unseen ‘boss’. With Bishop’s help, the Lone Ranger gathers up the ‘league of old timers’ who had all been fired from the Circle K. The Lone Ranger rides into town as the prospective buyer but then over-powers Devers. The house is surrounded by Devers’ men, but the old timers ride into town and fight them in the street, with the Lone Ranger and Tonto helping them along. Devers’ men are defeated and they are all arrested, as the Lone Ranger and Tonto ride out of town. Hank Patterson is an old timer who doesn’t know his own strength. William Fawcett is Pete. Lane Bradford is Jake. Sandy Sanders is Sandy. 7/19/15
• 005. Rustler’s Hideout – 10/13/1949
  • Ranchers have captured and arrested the leader of the outlaw Madden gang Pete Madden, but in retaliation the gang members have kidnapped Jim Patrick (Dickie Jones), the son of rancher Tom Patrick (Joseph Crehan), to negotiate the return of Madden. Meanwhile Fred (Harry Lauter) and Mary Vance (Kay Morley) have moved onto a nearby parcel of land, despite the fact that Fred continues to be run out of every area in which he settles, after being falsely accused of rustling, a crime that he was framed for by the Madden gang. Even Patrick wants nothing to do with Vance, but the Lone Ranger attempts to help both parties. Posing as an outlaw himself, he infiltrates the Madden gang, while Vance frees Jim. This proves to the ranchers that Vance is an innocent man. Fred Kohler Jr. is Nolan. 10/13/15
• 006. War Horse – 10/20/1949
  • A circus promoter hires hide hunter Matt Madrigo (Leonard Penn) to negotiate the purchase of famous war horse Black Cloud from temperamental Chief Lame Bear (Chief Yowlachie), but Madrigo instead steals the horse and kidnaps Lame Bear’s son White Eagle. When Chief Lame Bear finds out about the kidnapping, he gets angry and orders his men to pursue the Lone Ranger and his friend Baptiste Lezotte (Jean De Briac). The U.S. Army intervenes and winds up in a gunfight with Lame Bear and his men. Meanwhile Tonto is captured by Madrigo, but the Lone Ranger rescues both him and White Eagle and returns White Eagle to his father. This calms down Lame Bear, who is given a stern warning from the Army about misbehaving. John Merton is Lieutenant Bannister. Ed Cassidy is Colonel Graves. 10/14/15
• 007. Pete and Pedro – 10/27/1949
  • The Lone Ranger and Tonto travel to the ranch home of Ellen Carter (Sheila Ryan) when they hear that the evil Jeff Grant (John Parrish) is trying to force her off her land, and have bullied all but one farmhand, Bill Morgan (William F. Leicester), into abandoning her. Tonto goes to work for Grant to find out the reason, while the Lone Ranger recruits two lazy but talented men named Pete Lacy (Rufe Davis) and Pedro Martinez (Don Diamond) to assist Ellen on her farm. Both men end up falling in love with her and competing, as they fend off a group of Grant’s bullies. Tonto and the Lone Ranger find out by eavesdropping that there is gold on Ellen’s land, but are caught by Grant’s men, who take them back to the Carter ranch, and attempt to burn them alive along with Ellen and Bill in one of the ranch’s barns. The Lone Ranger and Tonto are able to get untied by using a piece of glass to cut their ropes, help the others escape, and then capture Grant and his gang. Pete and Pedro are disappointed to find that Ellen and Bill plan to be married, and they argue over who gets to be the best man. Fred Graham is Red. 12/19/15
• 008. The Renegades – 11/3/1949
  • Tonto is called via smoke signal to visit his friend Chief Swift Eagle (Ralph Moody) on his Washita reservation, and finds out that Swift Eagle’s people are not getting food because the supply train keeps getting robbed. The U.S. Army assumes that the culprits are rogue Indians and orders that any Indian found off of their reservation are to be arrested and sent to the Everglades in Florida, but the perpetrators are actually the Indian Agent Jim Lackey (Harry Harvey) and a band of Army deserters led by Sgt. Bolan (Gene Roth). The Lone Ranger seeks information from Father Batista (Wheaton Chambers) at the nearby mission and meets up with Inspector Williams (Kenneth MacDonald) from the Department of Indian Affairs. When Tonto check in with Lackey, Bolan recognizes him as friends with the Lone Ranger. Swift Eagle asks Tonto to join him to protect the supply train. Bolan and his men arrest Swift Eagle and Tonto and his men, which leaves Lackey and Bolan with the idea of framing them for the robberies. The Lone Ranger finds Bolan’s hideout with the stolen supplies, and Williams discovers Bolan and Lackey whipping Tonto and Swift Eagle. Bolan knocks out Williams, and kills Lackey so that he and his partner Flynn (Lane Chandler) can split all of their profits. The Lone Ranger arrives and overpowers Bolan and Flynn, and the Army shows up to arrest the deserters, and go back and capture the rest of them and free the other Washita Indians that they are holding. 12/20/15
• 009. The Tenderfeet – 11/10/1949
  • Based on a tip from the Lone Ranger, brothers Dick (Rand Brooks) and Bob Larrabee (Ross Ford) strike silver after only a few weeks of prospecting. Hardrock Jones (Ray Bennett) and Rusty Bates (Hank Worden) witness this, but become livid that they’ve been searching for 30 years and haven’t found anything. Hardrock hatches a plan to make the Larrabees look like claim jumpers and murderers. Hardrock kills Rusty and then makes the claim with Sheriff Stanton (Monte Blue), blaming the murder on the brothers. The Lone Ranger knows this isn’t true since he met up with the Larrabees before they found the silver, and steals Rusty’s body so that there can be no murder trial. Later he convinces the sheriff that he is the Lone Ranger and thus should be trusted to help identify the true killer. They return to Hardrock’s cabin, but Hardrock is able to knock out the sheriff before the Lone Ranger makes his presence known. Hardrock admits to murdering Rusty and plans to kill the Lone Ranger, but the Lone Ranger overpowers him, while the injured sheriff hears the confession from outside the cabin. 2/22/16
• 010. High Heels – 11/17/1949
  • The water on Dave Engles’ (Stanley Andrews) has been poisoned, so he has to rely on his cattle feeding on the land of his neighbor John St. Ives (Jerome Sheldon), a man of short stature who wears high-heeled boots. When one of Engles’ men Hank (Johnny Berkes) makes fun of St. Ives’ shortness, St. Ives gets angry and refuses to let Engles use his water any longer. It turns out that Hank works for a man named Monk Gow (Michael Whalen), who has orchestrated the feud between long-time friends Engles and St. Ives, so that Engles will be forced to sell his land at a low price. The Lone Ranger catches onto his ruse and has a plan whereby Engles signs his land over to Gow at a low cost. After the deal is done, Gow admits that he plans to cash in on the land because the railroad is planned to go through the ranch. A fight breaks among all parties and St. Ives realizes he doesn’t need the high heels to be a man. St. Ives and Engles patch up their friendship, and Engles reveals that the land deed had been signed by Engles with disappearing ink. Robert Kellard is Blackie. Earle Hodgins is the storekeeper. Tex Driscoll is a townsman. 2/22/16
• 011. Six Gun’s Legacy – 11/24/1949
  • Outlaws Curly Williams (Don Haggerty) and Dirk “Dan” Slade (Jimmie Dundee) shoot and kill Bob Walker (James Hickman), the heir to an $80,000 fortune left to him by his father, the legendary six-shooter Six Gun Walker. The substitute look-alike Emmet White (James Hickman) to go into town and claim the fortune from banker Ezra Barr (Hal Price) the next day on his 21st birthday. The Lone Ranger and Tonto find Bob Walker and realize that he’s still alive. Tonto rides into town and force the town Dr. Hiram Tucker (Ian Wolfe) to ride back and tend to Bob. When Tonto spots Emmet in town, they realize the ploy and the Lone Ranger hatches a plan. The next morning on Bob’s birthday, Dr. Tucker – who is in on the entire plan to steal Bob’s money – fetches Emmet to sign for the money. However it turns out that it is actually Bob, and the sheriff accompanies the Lone Ranger to arrest Tucker and his gang. 5/18/16
• 012. Return of the Convict – 12/1/1949
  • Convict John Ames (John Kellogg) returns to his hometown after being released from prison, seeking revenge on brothers Clay (John Daheim) and Todd Gunder (Chuck Roberson), whom he claims lied in court and pinned the robbery of a stagecoach on him. Sheriff Bill Hoskins (Steve Clark) is a friend of Ames, but warns him that he won’t tolerate violence. When Ames goes to the Gunders’ home, he finds the brothers missing and the place ransacked, causing him to try and flee town. Hoskins initially starts to arrest him, but a lynch mob led by the stagecoach driver Joe (George Lloyd) and townsman Sim Sturgess (Robert Emmett Keene). The Lone Ranger has been watching the proceedings and helps Ames escape the mob. When it is realized that neither the sheriff nor Tonto told the mob about the Gunders, the Lone Ranger deduces that the real killer is the one who arranged the mob. He goes to talk to the sheriff, but Sturgess convinces him to arrest the Lone Ranger, who escapes quickly. The Lone Ranger then finds the Gunders alive and lets them escape him so that they will lead him to their boss. It turns out to be Sim Strugess who had orchestrated the stage coach robberies that the Gunders had performed, as well as pinning the robbery on Ames. The Lone Ranger, Tonto, and the sheriff bust in on Sturgess and arrest as the Gunders, thinking that Sim had sent the Lone Ranger to assassinate them, are beating him to a pulp. 5/18/16
• 013. Finders Keepers – 12/8/1949
  • Bank robber Nat Parker (Arthur Franz) is released from prison after four years, and seeks revenge on his former partners Vic Crowley (Keith Richards) and Wade Tanner (Francis McDonald). Nat’s girlfriend the gypsy Beata (Carol Thurston) wants Nat to leave behind the life of crime, so she takes the robbery loot $75,000 and hides it, then goes and pleads with Padre Paul (David Leonard) to help turn him straight. The Padre shares the information with the Lone Ranger, so he and Tonto head to Desert City to stop him from killing Crowley and Tanner, who are waiting for Nat in ambush. They try to kill The Lone Ranger and Tonto, but are saved by Nat, who denies that he did anything to help. The Lone Ranger retrieves the money from Beata to turn over to Nat to return himself to the police, but Vic and Wade hold Beata as a hostage until Nat turns over the money to them. Nat decides that Beata is more important, so he and the Lone Ranger had over the money, which turns out to be a fake decoy. He and Tonto capture Crowley and Tanner and turn them over to the sheriff. Nat thanks the Lone Ranger, and vows to go straight. Pedro de Cordoba is King Kelvin. 8/23/16
• 014. The Masked Rider – 12/15/1949
  • Sheriff Jim Hawks (Edwin Rand) send for the Lone Ranger to help him with the Dirk Nelson Gang, who has been giving him trouble since he took office and now has kidnapped Jim’s fiancee Nancy Barton (Nan Leslie), whom Dirk (John Doucette) claims wants to marry him. The Lone Ranger goes to see Nancy’s father Sam (Nolan Leary) and finds out that he had once helped Dirk rob a bank and now threatens to implicate him if Nancy doesn’t do what he says. The Lone Ranger plans to infiltrate Nelson’s gang by pretending to be an outlaw known as the Masked Rider. After staging a fake hold-up, the Lone Ranger has Nelson’s men Sid (John Alvin) and Wes (George Slocum) take him to Nelson, who is impressed by the outlaw’s shooting, but secretly figures out that he is in fact the Lone Ranger by his silver bullets. Nolan tells the ‘Masked Rider’ to lead his gang for a stagecoach robbery, and plans to be inside the stagecoach himself to kill the Lone Ranger. News of this reaches the Lone Ranger via Nancy, so the Lone Ranger plans to have Tonto on the coach, while having Jim round up a posse and ambush Nelson and his gang. Although Nelson manages to overpower Tonto, the Lone Ranger bests him in a fist fight and he and the gang are arrested. Nancy returns to Jim, sorry for ever leaving him. Sailor Vincent is the stage driver. Margarita Martin is Mrs. Gonzales. 8/23/16
• 015. Old Joe’s Sister – 12/22/1949
  • The Sheriff of Harrisville (Clancy Cooper) hires the Lone Ranger and Tonto to escort Biff Baker (Lester Sharpe) and Cactus Gleason (Wade Crosby) to El Paso for their trial. Baker and Gleason are able to trick and overpower the sheriff and escape. They end up coming to the home of Joe Peters (Joel Friedkin) who is expecting his sister Abigail (Anne O’Neal) to come and live with him. When the escapees find out that Joe hasn’t seen Abigail in 30 years, Biff gets the idea to shoot both Joe and Cactus and toss them over a cliff, and then pose as Joe himself. The Lone Ranger and Tonto run into Abigail who is en route to her brother’s place and mistakes them for bandits. Once they explain who they are and warn her about the escaped criminals, they part ways. The Lone Ranger meets Biff at the home and initially believes that he is Joe, but when he and Tonto find the bodies of the men and see that the paint on Joe’s hands matches the fresh paint in his home, he realizes something is amiss. They also realize that Joe has actually survived the fall. Abigail isn’t fooled long by Biff and quickly realizes that he isn’t her brother. She holds him at gunpoint, but is overpowered by him. The Lone Ranger shows up and eventually fights Biff and knocks him out… leaving Abigail and the injured-but-alive Joe to live happily ever after. 11/7/16
• 016. Cannonball McKay – 12/29/1949
  • Wells Fargo has been plagued by stagecoach holdups, with only the area of Boone County being spared where the stage line franchise is held by a woman named Cannonball McKay (Louise Lorimar), who has recently taken an crippled ex-convict named Clem Jones (Leonard Strong) as her assistant. The Lone Ranger finds this suspicious and goes to see his friend Marshall Hanley (Tristram Coffin) and Clem’s doctor Doc Tate (Charles Meredith), but they have no answers either. Wells Fargo agent Jim Collins (Mack Williams) refuses to allow McKay to take his shipment because of Clem’s past.  Doc Tate sends Clem to mail a letter for him and then he robs the Wells Fargo office with his henchmen Hash (Fred Murray) and Porky Wade (Ralph Peters) and kills Collins. Hash poses as Clem and rides out of town, leading everyone in town to think Clem is the bandit. Marshall arrests Clem but Tonto knows he is innocent because he has been following him. Doc and his men plan to blow up the jail to kill Clem before his trial. The Lone Ranger convinces the Marshall to question Doc and Porky in the jailhouse, while they sweat out the explosives being planted by Hash. Tonto attempts to stop Hash, but Tonto is knocked out. Doc and Porky are locked up until they finally turn on each other in a panic, but manage to shoot Cannonball in the hand. Tonto wakes up and stops Hash. When Cannonball removes her glove, it is revealed that she is wearing a wedding ring…Clem’s. Porky reveals where the gold is hidden and Clem is released. 11/8/16
• 017. The Man Who Came Back – 1/5/1950
  • The Lone Ranger and Tonto stop by the Bar C Ranch to visit their old friend Joe Crawford (Roy Gordon), but instead find two henchmen (Hugh Prosser, Robert J. Wilke) who are working for Pinto Brown (Robert Carson), who claims to have purchased the land from Crawford. Crawford’s long-time friend and cook Tom Peters (Emmett Lynn) and Crawford’s daughter Molly (Martha Hyer) are both skeptical that the transaction ever took place, even though Brown has a bill of sale with Crawford’s signature on it. While looking for clues the Lone Ranger finds a note from Crawford to Peters and is able to match up the signatures… although they are in fact too exact indicating that Brown has traced and forged the signature. The Lone Ranger disguises himself as an old man and delivers a letter to Brown indicating that Crawford is being released from prison and is returning home. Brown heads to Silver Gulch to find Crawford, leaving his henchmen to ambush him if Brown misses him. The Lone Ranger catches up with Brown and tells the sheriff of Silver Gulch (Edgar Dearing) about the ambush. They force Brown to change clothes with Crawford and send him into the ambush. The henchmen miss him when they fire on him, but all men are arrested. It turned out that Brown and his men lied about Crawford starting a fight in the saloon in town, where Crawford had gone to celebrate finding out from an assayer that he had gold on his property, giving Brown the reason to try and take possession immediately. Eddie Dunn is the marshal. 2/13/17
• 018. Outlaw Town – 1/12/1950
  • A lone gunman named Jim Andrews (Gene Ryenolds) robs the Wells Fargo office and steals $5000, no more no less, which he uses to pay off property owner Jack Burke (John Eldredge), who runs an outlaw haven where criminals can hide out and use one another for various robberies. The Lone Ranger attempts to infiltrate the town posing as a criminal and proposes to Burke that he arrange an ambush and robbery of a Wells Fargo gold shipment, in an attempt to set up the criminals and put Outlaw Town out of business. Meanwhile Burke’s wife Edith (Greta Granstedt) has a soft spot for Andrews and desperately wants him to go straight so that he can marry his love interest. The Lone Ranger covers for Edith when she swipes her husband’s money to give to Jim to turn himself in. This nearly foils the plan as the Lone Ranger is tied up, and Andrews and his men head directly to Watkinsville where the gold has arrived. Tonto helps the Lone Ranger escape and head to Watkinsville and stop the criminals, shutting down Outlaw Town. Sheriff Wayne (Marhsall Bradford) promises Mrs. Burke that they will go as easy as possible on Andrews. Robert Kellard is the deputy.  2/13/17 
• 019. Greed for Gold – 1/19/1950
  • Sheriff Gilbert (Kermit Maynard) is lured into a house near the Lady Luck mine and is killed via a thrown knife. When the Lone Ranger and Tonto happen along, they are accused by local landowner Jeff Barnes (Kenne Duncan) and his men Pete (Duke York) and Slick (Lane Bradford) of being the murderers. The Lone Ranger has found a spur at the scene of the crime, and when he notices that another neighbor Dusty Duncan (Tudor Owen) is missing a spur, he overpowers the men but keeps Dusty behind. When Dusty goes to warn the owner of the mine Sally (Margaret Field) that someone must be after her gold, the Lone Ranger knows Dusty is innocent. When Jeff offers to buy the mine from Sally, the Lone Ranger is certain that he is behind the killings. Tonto overhears Pete and Slick talk about killing Gilbert and planting the spur, but the men overpower him and head back to report this to their boss. The Lone Ranger, Tonto, and Dusty all head to Barnes’ place where, after a fight, they are able to locate the stolen gold in his cellar, leading to his arrest. 6/1/17
• 020. Man of the House – 1/26/1950
  • The Lone Ranger and Tonto wander into the lives of Casper (Stanley Farrar) and Maud Dingle (Esther Somers), whose plantation has just been the victim of rustlers. Maud runs the ranch and Casper is a timid and henpecked man who is scared to death of his wife, but when Maud takes her head ranch-hand Tex (Lane Chandler), the Lone Ranger visits with him and gives him some lessons in shooting a gun. When Tonto finds two of the rustlers, Curly (William Tannen) and Len (John McGuire) in a barber shop, he trails them back to the box canyon where they are hold the cattle. Tonto is captured by the men and taken to their leader Spike (Dick Curtis), but Tonto manages to send his horse Scout back to find the Lone Ranger. Casper accompanies the Lone Ranger to confront the rustlers, and once they get Tonto untied, Casper joins them in a fistfight with the rustlers, in which they are victorious. Casper returns with the rustlers to a furious Maud, and once he asserts his manhood to his domineering wife, she becomes the submissive one in their marriage. 6/13/17
• 021. Barnaby Boggs, Esquire – 2/2/1950
  • An elixir salesman named Barnaby Boggs (Hal Price) is persuaded by two henchmen named Curly (Holly Bane) and Jeb (Gene Roth) not to bring his wares into the town of Mexican Bow. When the Lone Ranger and Tonto help save Boggs from his own runaway horses, they remind Boggs that only he can testify to the identity of the killer Red Kruger (Bill Kennedy). Curly and Jeb are the henchman of Kruger, who is living quietly in Mexican Bow under the name Bert Phelps. The Lone Ranger convinces Sheriff Nabors (Nelson Leight) to round up Phelps and the other two men in town who have purchased property since Kruger has disappeared, so that Boggs can identify him. Kruger willingly agrees but sends his head henchman Ace (Bob Kellard) along with Curly and Jeb to kill Boggs. The capture Boggs and Tonto and take them to an abandoned mine shaft to blow them up. Kruger offers to help the Lone Ranger find and rescue Boggs, but his helpfulness tips off the Lone Ranger, and he is able to overpower Kruger and knock him out. He then stops the three henchmen from killing Boggs and Tonto just in time. Boggs tries to peddle his medicine all he can in Mexican Bow before leaving town. 1/24/18
• 022. Sheep Thieves – 2/9/1950
  • The Lone Ranger’s friend Dan Reid (Chuck Cortney) is coming to visit him, riding in a stagecoach with Carlos Medrano (Jimmy Ogg) who is reuniting with his grandfather Jose (Pedro de Cordova) for the first time since he was a child. Dan agrees to stay with them for a little while and pose as Carlos himself, so that his grandfather may come to like him for himself. Before they arrived they are ambushed and Dan is kidnapped, but they think they are grabbing Carlos. The kidnapping was orchestrated by Jose’s neighbor Frank Lucas (Harry Cording) and Jose’s ranch hand Jack Brandon (Russ Conway), who plan to hold Carlos hostage until Jose pays a $25,000 ransom, money he will get by selling his property to Lucas, who raised the money by stealing Jose’s sheep and selling them. The Lone Ranger finds Carlos injured and nurses him back to health, and then convinces Jose to help fool the kidnappers and rescue Dan. Joe signs the deed with the wrong name, the Lone Rangers steals the $25,000 from Dan, who is supposed to be delivering it to the kidnappers, causing a rift among Lucas’s men, allowing Dan and Tonto to escape. The Lone Ranger turns the gang over to the police, and Lucas is informed that Jose signed the deed with Carlos’s name, so he never legally had possession of the property. The money is returned to Jose, since it was raised by selling Jose’s own sheep. John Daheim aka John Day is Rick. Almira Sessions is Jose’s maid Maria. • 023. Jim Tyler’s Past – 2/16/1950
  • The Lone Ranger and Tonto are hot on the heels of robber and murderer Blackie Kane (House Peters, Jr.), but he keeps eluding them. When Blackie robs the exchange in the town of Muldoon, Sheriff Hank Pettigrew (Ray Bennett) and his deputy Jim Tyler (Rand Brooks) go after Blackie and miss him as well. The Sheriff accuses Jim of his heart not being in the posse, and it soon becomes apparent why: Jim and Blackie robbed a bank together in Abilene, and although Jim has made good as a deputy, he is still a wanted man. Blackie threatens to turn him in if he doesn’t help him and his men The Barrett brothers Luke (Peter Mamakos), Clint (Boyd Stockman), and Vince (Sailor Vincent) get supplies so they can head for the border. Tonto tracks Blackie the Jim’s house, so the Lone Ranger visits him and make it clear that he is fairly certain that Tyler is actually the wanted man Jim Wadsworth. He colludes with the Sheriff to send Jim to capture Blackie to find out if Jim is now a lawful man or not. When Jim gets there, he tries to arrest the men but is overpowered. While Blackie leaves disguised as Jim to get supplies, the Barrett brothers attempt to kill Jim but are stopped by the Lone Ranger and Hank. The three men disguise themselves as the Barretts and surprise Blackie when he returns. The Lone Ranger gives Jim the chance to kill Blackie, but Jim says he is now lawful and cannot. Blackie gets the gun from Jim and tries to kill him but the gun is empty. The Lone Ranger overpowers Blackie, and Hank now knows that Jim is an honest man and promises to vouch for him when Jim turns himself in, claiming that he was forced to participate in the robbery. 9/22/18
• 024. The Man with Two Faces – 2/23/1950
  • A bearded man with an eye patch has been robbing the banks belonging to Josh Blaine (Stanley Andrews). No one has been able to catch the culprit but the Lone Ranger thinks it must be someone who works for the bank. He goes to visit Blaine in Coopersville where he suspects that the next robbery will be, and meets his two nephews Fred Bowen (Chris Drake) and Bob Lacey (Steven Clark). Despite the fact that Blaine doesn’t think Bob will make a good banker, he doesn’t believe that either could be involved. The Lone Ranger is pursuing the robber runs across Professor Hannibal Lee (Earl Hodgins) and his wife Jessie (Mira McKinney), who run a traveling magic show. Lee claims to have been shot in the arm by the robber, but it turns out he is faking it and is actually the robber. The Lone Ranger has his suspicions when Lee performs some magic tricks for him and Tonto not long after and his wound appears completely healed. Fred goes to his uncle and tells him that he has spotted Bob giving Lee the key to the bank and that he will be robbing it soon, so Lee has Fred get the Lone Ranger and Tonto so they can stake him out. It proves to be a trap, as it is actually Fred who is in cahoots, and they trap the three men in the bank vault. Bob comes in to do some work and frees them when the Lone Ranger lights a fire under the bank door. They arrest Professor Lee and Jessie after the magic show, but Lee makes himself disappear. The Lone Ranger however chases and catches him on horseback. 9/23/18
• 025. Buried Treasure – 3/2/1950
  • Outlaw Flint Foster (William Challee) makes his escape from prison, kills a guard (Bob Kellard), eludes a posse, and heads toward the home of his straight-shooting brother Roy (David Bruce) and his wife Edith (Gail Davis). The Lone Ranger and Tonto join the search and head to Roy’s to warn him that Flint might be on his way. Meanwhile Roy has brought home $1000 in gold that he is going to use to pay off his ranch. Roy mistakes the Lone Ranger for one of Flint’s outlaw friends and has Gail hide the gold, which she puts into the batter of a cake she is baking. Roy tells the Lone Ranger if he comes inside, a man behind the curtain will shoot him. The Lone Ranger doesn’t want to risk anyone getting hurt, so he leaves, not realizing that Flint is behind the house. Flint overhears them talking about the gold, and attempts to find it but does not look in the cake in the oven, although he demands to have a piece after dinner. The Lone Ranger returns with the sheriff (William Gould) in tow, but now Flint actually is behind the curtain, threatening to shoot Edith if they give him away. The Lone Ranger catches a glimpse of him in the mirror in the bedroom, but again leaves in order to keep Edith safe. Flint finally realizes the gold is in the cake and demands that Edith cut it open. The Lone Ranger sneaks back into the house through the bedroom window, but he is spotted by Flint, who attempts to shoot him in the chest, but merely hits his image in the mirror. The Lone Ranger is able to subdue Flint and have him arrested. The Sheriff finally gets to enjoy a piece of the cake with the Foster, while Roy turns the money over to pay off his ranch. 6/23/19 
• 026. Troubled Waters – 3/9/1950
  • While looking for water, the Lone Ranger and Tonto hear a gunshot and happen upon an older lady named Emmy Bryson (Eula Morgan), who direct the men to the ranch of Dave Tucker (Harry Lauter) to get water. As they near his ranch, the Lone Ranger examines the water just before Tucker takes some shots at them. They are able to over-power him and find out that he thought they were there to kill him after someone had been sabotaging his ranch by poisoning his water, cutting his fences, and then shooting him in the arm, making him unable to deliver his cattle and make enough money to save his ranch. They agree to help, and the Lone Ranger heads into town to question Emmy, who has been directing her dim-witted cafe assistant Jed (Dick Alexander) to destroy Dave’s livelihood. She informs him that Dave has been trying to get a loan from banker Rufe Barton (Byron Foulger) but has been turned down repeatedly. The Lone Ranger knows Rufe and asks him to give the loan, making it an easy offer to accept when he notifies Rufe that here is oil on Tucker’s land. As soon as the Lone Ranger leaves, someone shoots and kills Barton. With Emmy’s testimony to the sheriff (Luther Crockett), it is assumed that the Lone Ranger is the killer. The sheriff attempts to arrest them all peacefully, but Emmy takes a shot at them, forcing them to take refuge in the Cafe, where the Lone Ranger fights Jed. Emmy is able to get off a non-fatal shot to Tucker, making the sheriff suspicious of her motives. Jed, fed up with being constantly berated for being dumb by Emma, decides to spill his guts and tell all concerned that Emmy was after Dave’s oil so has made repeated attempts to sabotage and kill him. 6/23/19
• 027. Gold Train – 3/16/1950
  • A bandit gang leader known as The Dude (Frank Fenton) and his number one man Rawhide (John Cason) sends his henchmen Hank (Robert Kellard) and Bart (Bob Woodward) to rob a stage and kill all of the passengers. One of the passengers is a new bank vice president Sam Martin who is on his way to pick up a $100,000 in gold in Running Creek, so the Dude assumes the identity of Martin. They pass by the Lone Ranger and Tonto on the way, and the Dude plans to identify the Lone Ranger as The Dude since he wears a mask. The bandits arrive in Running Creek and meet up with Horseface Jackson (Billy Bletcher) who chastises the Dude for whipping his horses, Judkins (Erville Alderson) the agent at the Overland Express Company, and Sheriff Buck McCall (DeForest Kelley), who turns the money over to the Dude. Meanwhile the Lone Ranger and Tonto find one of the dying passenger who identifies the Dude, so they head into Running Creek where they are immediately arrested by the sheriff. Horseface has suspicion that the Lone Ranger is the good guy because of the way he treats his horse, and when Tonto arrives, he assists the Lone Ranger in escaping and they lock up the sheriff. The Dude and his men stop by the next station and kill the agent Calico (Hank Patterson) when they find out he knows Sam Martin. The Dude suggests to Rawhide that they cut out Hank and Bart and split the money two ways. Rawhide shoots them as the Lone Ranger and Tonto arrive. The Lone Ranger overpowers Dude, but Rawhide knocks out Tonto and holds the Lone Ranger at gunpoint. Buck gives Tonto his gun, and he is able to rescue the Lone Ranger just as the sheriff and his posse arrives. Buck confesses everything, so the sheriff offers the Lone Ranger a $5000 reward, but he tells the sheriff to give it to Horseface so he can buy the horse he always wanted. 2/26/20
• 028. Pay Dirt – 3/23/1950
  • An old prospector named Ed Dudley (Emmett Lynn) and his young partner Dick McHenry (Martin Milner) blast out a mine and discover gold. McHenry heads out to register the gold mine, but is stopped by a gambler named Zack Carter (Zon Murray) who questions him as to the location of the mine, but when Dick pulls a gun, Zack’s partner Sam Hovey (George J. Lewis) shoots Dick and they steal the gold he has on him. The Lone Ranger and Tonto find Dick alive and attempt to help him as Dudley arrives. Dudley initially thinks that the Lone Ranger shot him, but then recognizes his silver bullet and trusts him. Tonto finds some of Carter’s marked cards and set out to find him. Carter takes the gold to claim office clerk Charley Wafford (George Lynn), and makes a deal that if Dudley or McHenry’s father Tom (Walter Sande) come make a claim, that Charley doesn’t file it and gives the information to him. Carter then visits Tom McHenry and tells him that he heard that Dudley shot his son in the back, but McHenry doesn’t believe him and tells him to leave. Tonto then arrives and also tells McHenry that his son has been shot, but that he is certain it wasn’t at the hand of Ed Dudley. The Lone Ranger then visits Wafford at the land office and registers the claim on behalf of Dudley and McHenry, but once he gets the information, Wafford pulls a gun on the Lone Ranger. Hovey enters and is shot by Wafford who wants the claim to himself. The Lone Ranger then fights and defeats Wafford. Tonto and McHenry arrive to help Dick, but they are ambushed by Carter who shoots Tom in the leg, driving them all into the mine. Carter starts a fire at the entrance to the mine. The Lone Ranger arrives and fights Carter and rescues the men from the mine. Carter nearly escapes but is beaten up by the Lone Ranger. Dick wakes up as they wait for a sheriff to take Carter in, as the Lone Ranger head back to take Wafford to jail. 2/26/20
• 029. Billie the Great – 3/30/1950
  • The Lone Ranger and Tonto hear shots and find a shot Express Agent named Ben Jason (Bob Woodward) who claims that three men tries to rob the gold off their wagon, but he held them off why they were able to escape before they got the gold. He identifies the outlaws as Sam Kirk (James Flavin), Lew Slade (Ward Blackburn), and Rufe Watson (Steve Clark) before he dies of his injuries. The Lone Ranger and Tonto quickly track down Watson, who admits that the three of them are all reconvening in Clarkesville, which also happens to be home of the famous female barber and sharpshooter Billie Banion (Minerva Urecal) who protects the safe containing her and the town’s money. Slade goes into get a haircut and immediately insults Billie and is thrown out. She asks her friend Joe Benson (Matt McHugh) to watch Slade and he is able to hear his meeting with Kirk when he arrives in town, and their plans to rob the safe. Benson informs Billie that Kirk, who has a full beard will be coming in for a trim, while Slade robs the safe. Meanwhile Lone Ranger and Tonto arrive in town and hope to get information about the whereabouts of the killers. Fearing he will scare Billie if he wears his mask, he opts to remove it, don a full beard, and portray an Indian agent. She mistakes him for being Kirk, and holds him at gunpoint, but he outwits her and gets her gun, then give it back so she will trust him. They make a plan to snag the Slade and Kirk when they attempt the robbery. Tonto catches Slade outside the shop, but he overpowers Tonto and escapes. He attempts to ambush Tonto, but Tonto fakes getting hit and overpowers him, returning him to town. The Lone Ranger sneaks into the safe room and ambushes Kirk when he forces Billie into the room to open the safe. Having captured both of the outlaws, the Lone Ranger and Tonto sneak out of time before they can be thanked, leaving the men in Billie’s custody. Having previously decided to leave town for San Diego, Billie changes her mind and decides to stay after having such a day of excitement. George Meader is customer Hank. 6/11/20
• 030. Never Say Die – 4/6/1950
  • Prison guard Hanley (Lee Phelps) notifies Warden Sears (Joseph Crehan) that prisoner Butch Cavendish has escaped with a gun, and even worse, has taken the warden’s son Johnny (David Holt) as a hostage. Cavendish demands that the warden release his gang, threatening to kill his son if he doesn’t release them all by noon. He takes Johnny to Dead Man’s Gulch and sets up booby traps if anyone enters the cabin. The Lone Ranger gets word of the situation and sends Tonto to look for Cavendish’s hideout, while he heads to the prison. Tonto is knocked out by the trap and held prisoner along with Johnny. The Lone Ranger meets with the warden and tells him to release one prisoner Matt Dooley (Ray Teal), with the plan that he will trail him and lead him to Cavendish. Along the way, Dooley stops at the home of two old sisters Effie (Cecil Spooner) and Essie Newton (Marjorie Eaton) and tells them that he is being trailed by a masked bandit, and asks them to keep him there if he shows up. When the Lone Ranger shows up, the sisters believe he is the criminal and allow Dooley to hold the Lone Ranger as prisoner. However he is able to overpower Dooley and tie him up, and the women check Dooley’s pulse to determine when Dooley lies and when he indicates the Dead Man’s Gulch location. Cavendish is getting ready to kill the men since none of his gang has shown up, but the Lone Ranger arrives, circumvents the booby trap when Tonto tips him off, and then overpowers Cavendish. In an effort to escape, Cavendish is shot by his own booby trap and the two men are taken back to jail. Harry Hines is the old timer on the trail. 6/11/20
• 031. Gold Fever – 4/13/1950
  • The sheriff (Harold Goodwin) of Desert City gets word that notorious criminal Ox Martin (John Doucette) is in the area. Ox and has his henchman Pinky Nugent (Leonard Strong) do in fact rob the stagecoach headed from Silverton to Desert City. They hold up the driver (George Lloyd) steal all of the money on the coach as well as the bag of U.S. mail, which contains a gold claim in Box Canyon sent by prospector Sam Dingle (Francis Ford) to the Claims Office in Desert City. The Lone Ranger is particularly offended when he find sout that Martin has tampered with the United States mail. With the Lone Ranger hot on his trail, Martin turns the claim over to Pinky and has him file the claim with the claim agent John (John Butler). The Lone Ranger visits Dingle and his daughter Peggy (Elaine Riley) and convinces him that Martin has jumped the claim, and tells Dingle he will head to Desert City to try and beat Martin there. Tonto accompanies Dingle to gold mine in anticipation of Matin showing up to claim it, while the Lone Ranger heads to Desert City. He arrives just after Pinky files a claim, and at first the sheriff and claim agent assume that the Lone Ranger is a claim jumper and try to hold him as prisoner. The Lone Ranger pulls a gun on them and locks them up so he can leave, but leaves them enough information that they figure out the truth about the claim. Martin heads to the mine and finds Peggy on the way and brings her along at gunpoint. When Dingle won’t tell Martin the precise location of the mine, he starts the fuse on black powder to blow them all up, assuming that the mine has caved in. The Lone Ranger arrives just in time to overpower Ox Martin and put out the fuse. Dingle then re-files his claim, and when Nugent tries to claim that he had actually filed one first, the Lone Ranger reminds him that the envelope that contained the original claim was postmarked the previous day. Having saved the day, the Lone Ranger and Tonto sneak out the sheriff’s office unnoticed. 9/24/20
• 032. Death Trap – 4/20/1950
  • Deputy Joe Parker (Kenne Duncan) accomanies notorious criminal Knife Norton (Jeff York) to Abilene to sand trial, but along the way, Norton’s boss Rex Craig (James Griffith) ambushes the coach, knocks out Parker and takes them both. The Lone Ranger finds the coach and spots a nearby cabin in which lives an strange old miner known as Uncle Taffy (Lucien Littlefield). The Lone Ranger questions him to see if the stagecoach passengers are nearby, as there have been other deputies who have disappeared in the same area. He is able to convince the Lone Ranger that he’s a simple old timer who wouldn’t hurt a fly, but after the Lone Ranger leaves, he lets Norton, Craig, and Deputy Parker out of a hole hidden under his floorboards. Also under the house is a deep well, in which they deposit Parker as they have done to several other deputies. Craig rides into town and feigns concern about Parker to Marshal Yates (Lee Shumway). Parker’s son Jimmy (Steven Clark) is bitter about his father’s disappearance and threatens to kill Yates, but he is stopped by the Lone Ranger. Jimmy is apologetic, and the Marshal, who has been investigating the disappearing deputies after receiving a warning from the unknown criminals threatening him that he better leave town because ‘they’ are the law and order in town. Jimmy volunteers to be the next deputy, and he and the Lone Ranger begin working together. Tonto poses as a criminal who tries to rob the Marshal, and once he is thrown in jail, Craig offers to stop the deputy taking to Abilene for trial for the sum of $1000. The Lone Ranger pays him the money, but Craig recognizes his voice from his visit with Uncle Taffy and sets a reverse-trap for them with Knife Norton. Craig and his men overtake the stagecoach and bring Jimmy and Tonto back to Uncle Taffy’s place. The Lone Ranger begins to suspect the true nature of Uncle Taffy, while he waits for the Lone Ranger to show up. He falls through the trap hole in the floor that is covered with a rug, but he manages to stop himself from hitting the bottom by holding onto the ladder. He works his way up, as Tonto and Jimmy fight off the others. In the melee, Uncle Taffy falls into the hole. The other criminals are all overpowered and the Marshal shows up to arrest the others. He makes Jimmy a permanent deputy, while others now willfully volunteer to take Craig and Knife to Abilene for trial. 9/24/20
• 033. Matter of Courage – 4/27/1950
  • The Lone Ranger and Tonto are trying to catch up with escaped murderers Dimple Henshaw (Don Haggerty) and Soapy Farrell (Dick Curtis) who are heading for the border. They head to the border town Sandstone and meet with the Sheriff Jim Wakely (Eddie Cobb) and bank manager Martin Simpson (Raymond Largay) to create a sting operation. The Lone Ranger poses as an old prospector depositing gold in the bank in hopes the word will get out and get Henshaw and Farrell to rob them. The killers come into town quietly and go for a shave with the barber Tony (Juan Duval) where the uppity deputy, and nephew of the Sheriff’s wife, Bud Titus (James Arness) often hangs out. He clashes with the men right away and tells them to leave town, but they return to the barber’s back door and hear the Sheriff filling in Bud about the escaped murderers. When Bud sees that there is a $5000 reward on their heads, he turn in his badge so that he can capture them and collect the reward as a private citizen. The men come back in the shop and hold up Tony, and then knock out Tonto when he comes there to stake out the bank. The Lone Ranger spots Henshaw rob the bank using Tony as a shield, while Farrell keep watch on Tonto. Farrell wants to leave town after robbing the bank, but Henshaw wants revenge on the Lone Ranger for a previous encounter that gave Henshaw a scar on his chin. Henshaw pretends to surrender and acts as if the Sheriff has shot Farrell, but when the Lone Ranger enters, Farrell gets the jump on him. Henshaw wants to gash the Lone Ranger’s face for revenge, and Farrell attempts to knock out Tonto again using a bag of gold. Tony cuts the bag to empty it, and Farrell discovers that it is dirt. A melee ensue with the Lone Ranger, Tonto, and Tony victorious. Bud returns hoping to collect the money, but the Lone Ranger points out that it was Tony with his heroic act who really made the capture possible. Bud has to eat crow and ask for his job back. 1/11/21
• 034. Rifles and Renegades – 5/4/1950
  • The Lone Ranger and Tonto assist three Army soldiers from nearby Fort Maddox with a gunfight with some renegade Indians from Black Eagle’s tribe who are following a new chief named Gray Hawk (Robert Bice), who stole Black Eagle’s gold. The Lone Ranger’s gunshots drive the Indians off, but one of the soldiers, Private Johnson (Bill Ward) is hit. Tonto helps assists Sergeant Murphy (Frank Marlowe) with Johnson’s wound, while the Lone Ranger explains to Lieutenant Skip Haines (Robert Kent) that the Indians are using the latest rifles, which they could have only gotten from Fort Maddox. When Haines reports what happened to Major L.R. Pollard (Gene Roth), the major has him arrested for failing to follow orders. It turns out that Pollard is working in cahoots with a storekeeper named Asa Jones (I. Stanford Jolley) in selling the rifles to Gray Hawk. The discuss the men’s interference, and Pollard tells Jones to set up the men for an ambush by Gray Hawk’s men. Meanwhile Tonto visits Gray Hawk’s village posing as an Indian in need of food. He uses a silver bullet to barter for supper, and while eating, hears Jones ask Gray Hawk to ambush the soldiers in Pinion Pass with the condition that they can keep their guns and rifles. Tonto leaves to report the ambush, but Jones recognizes the silver bullet as belonging to the Lone Ranger, so they restrain Tonto so he can’t leave. Haines is puzzled by his orders, but sends Murphy to tell them to the Lone Ranger, who himself becomes suspicious. The Lone Ranger tracks down Tonto, but he too is caught and restrained. However he is smuggling a knife, so he manages to cut both of their ropes free. The Lone Ranger uses cactus to cause Gray Hawk to stumble when he comes in, and the Lone Ranger and Tonto are able to capture them. The Lone Ranger returns to Fort Maddox and fights both Jones and Pollard, and is able to subdue them as well. He has the guard (John Hart) arrest them for selling government property. • 035. Bullets for Ballots – 5/11/1950
  • The Lone Ranger and Tonto get involved with a crooked election with a mayor named Leander Knox (Frank Jaquet), who has stolen the last several elections with the help of his crooked campaign manager Jed Wesson (Frederic Tozere) and his henchmen Frank Farrow (Ward Blackburn) and Pike Lane (Holly Bane aka Mike Ragan). Local newspaper man Scotty Dixon (John Alvin) attempts to support his fair and honest competitor Bob McQueen (Craig Stevens), and once the Lone Ranger and Tonto determine that McQueen is an honest man by his refusal of their offer to use force to get him some votes, they intervene when Pike and Farrow attack Dixon and vandalize his office at the newspaper, and beat them both up. Knox and Wesson realize they need to act fast with the interference of the Lone Ranger, so Farrow shows McQueen a duplicate of his wife Kitty’s (Marjorie Lord) wedding ring, and force him to write out a note indicating that he robbed the bank, then takes him and holds him in a cabin. Pike robs the bank and also plants a watch fob on the scene that McQueen had lost. Tonto follows Wesson and Knox to the hideout, and the Lone Ranger is able to break in and attack Farrow. Wesson joins the fight and accidentally throws a knife into Farrow. Tonto is forced to shoot Pike in the hand. Knox blames Wesson for the entire setup and says he’s willing to tell the truth. This ultimately leads to Wesson’s arrest, as well as McQueen’s victory in the election. Phil Tead is Peters the bank clerk. 5/6/21

  • The Lone Ranger and Tonto are on the trail of outlaws who stole 200 pounds of gold from the gold refinery in Broken Bend and murdered two men, but their trail has run cold because the perpetrators are a man named Rocky Carson (John Eldredge) posing as a parson, along with his henchmen Beasley (Jeff York), Flint (Ed Hinton), and Deacon Brown (Bill Ward), who are carrying the gold in a coffin that they claim is the parson’s late wife. An Indian who is friends with Tonto is trailing the men, but when they see him, Beasley shoots him. Tonto arrives as he is dying and he tells Tonto that the killer was ‘black hat’, which is what the tribe call men of the cloth. The Lone Ranger and Tonto cross paths with the outlaws, but the Lone Ranger is suspicious that Carson is a true parson. The Lone Ranger finds the nearest Health Officer John Smithers (George Pembroke) and shares his suspicions and asks him to inspect the coffin before they let them board an outbound train. Smithers turns away from the law and offers to help the men get the gold onto the train, even suggesting that they add more to it from the express office in town. Tonto overhears their conversation, but he is caught by the men. The Lone Ranger attempts a rescue, but they threaten to kill Tonto, and then lock both of them in a closet, starting a fire on their way out. The Lone Ranger and Tonto escape the closet and attack Smithers when he returns for his hairpiece. They have shootout with the outlaws, and Flint is killed and Beasley is wounded. Carson, Deacon, and the Health Officer are locked up, and Sheriff Healy (William Ruhl) promises that the outlaws will hang and Smithers will be on the rockpile. 5/7/21
• 037. Devil’s Pass – 5/25/1950
  • Red-headed outlaw Red Randall (John Bannon) and his partner Lefty Hayes (Jimmy Lloyd) plot to rob a messenger of $100,000 in Devil’s Pass, by having Lefty dye his hair read and then pretend to be drunk and disorderly and break mercantile owner Jim Blair’s (Jed Dooley) window. Lefty spends just enough time in view that he could easily be mistaken for Randall, who is, at the very same time, committing the murder and robbery of the money. Red and Lefty then meet at Devil’s Pass, where Red hides the money, kills Lefty, and then heads back to the Sheriff (Marshall Bradford) and turns himself in for the crime that Lefty actually committed. Because of that, the Sheriff only gives him ten days behind bars, in the cell next to his old friend Beef Carson (Gene Evans). Meanwhile, the Lone Ranger and Tonto have heard the shot when Red killed Lefty, and head to Devil’s Pass to investigate. Based on the clues left behind, they head to see the sheriff and figure out that the man who turned himself in was likely the killer and robber. Tonto goes undercover in the cell, posing as a vagrant, and spreads the rumor that miners are heading back to Devil’s Pass to dig for gold, and then tells Red that his friend will be breaking him out, and that Red can come along as well. Beef recognizes Tonto as being the Lone Ranger’s partner, so they cook up their own plan. When the Lone Ranger breaks all three men out of the jail, Red and Beef take the Sheriff’s guns, and then takes them all to Devil’s Pass to retrieve the gold, but have them dig in the wrong place. With their backs turned as they dig, Red fires on both of them and the Lone Ranger and Tonto both go down. Red takes Beef to the actual location and retrieves the money. Red then fires on Beef to eliminate him, but he doesn’t go down. Beef then fires back at Red, but Red also doesn’t fall. The Lone Ranger has filled the guns with blanks, so no one was shot. The men get into a fight, but the Lone Ranger and Tonto overpower them, and they return Red and Beef – and the money – to the Sheriff. 8/30/21
• 038. Spanish Gold – 6/1/1950
  • An old man named Tug Spencer (Steve Clark) is executed in San Pablo prison, a jail that is going to be torn down, and one that is the subject as much lore about gold being buried under it. His friend Danny Yorke (Ross Ford), who believes him innocent, has been paroled due to the prison being torn down, is asked to deliver Tug’s pet bird to his daughter Nora (Gail Davis) in Calabalas, after some reluctance, ends up doing it, despite having to travel some rough country to get it there. On the way, he faints and is picked up by the Lone Ranger and Tonto, who nurse him back to health. Danny tells them about Tug, and the fact that he thinks he was framed by Deputy Gil Jackson (Kenneth Tobey), who he believes is the real murderer because he claimed he found Tug’s hat under the victim’s body, while Danny says he saw Tug wearing the hat after the murder. The Lone Ranger wants to investigate so that justice is served. Meanwhile, Jackson meets with Danny’s lawyer James T. Hague (Bruce Hamilton) meet and split up the assets that he got from Spencer for legal fees. Jackson meets with Nora and delivers the bird and her father’s final words to her. The Lone Ranger asks Tonto to do his wild Indian routine to get arrested so he can find out the behavior of Jackson, when Tonto starts talking crazy about the gold supposedly buried under the San Pablo prison. Danny and Nora a note in the birdcage written by her father that indicates that he had found the room containing all of the gold under his cell. They head there to find it as do Hague and Jackson, with Tonto in tow. The Lone Ranger shows up and rescues Tonto. Danny and Nora find the gold, but Jackson and Hague are right behind, and they lock them in the underground room. The Lone Ranger and Tonto show up as well, and fight and defeat Hague and Jackson and lock them in the cell, and give the gold to Danny and Nora. The Lone Ranger and Tonto head out without taking any share of the gold. 8/30/21
• 039. Damsels in Distress – 6/8/1950
  • A European spy knowns as Baron Von Baden (John Banner) attempts to buy the patent on a new rifle created by inventor Sam Dexter (Phil Tead). However when Dexter finds out he’s not American, he tells Von Baden and his American partner Jeff Garth (Tom Tyler) that he won’t sell. Von Baden doesn’t want anyone else to get the plans, so he throws a stiletto in Dexter’s back, and he and Garth make plans to go search Dexter’s house. The Lone Ranger and Tonto find the injured Dexter, and he tells them about Von Baden. This happens to be the same agent they themselves are searching for. They rush to Dexter’s house, but only find the injured butler Wong (Lee Tong Foo), who was forced to reveal the whereabouts of Dexter’s daughters Peg (Peggy McIntire) and Bonnie (Gloria Winters), who have torn the plans into three pieces, one for each of them to hide, and one for their chaperone Miss Prynne (Phyllis Kennedy). The Lone Ranger suspects that Von Baden is going to accompany them on their stagecoach to Kansas City where they intend to have the gun plans patented. The Lone Ranger disguises himself as an elderly Civil War vet, and gets his own seat on their stagecoach. Von Baden has Garth pretend to rob the stagecoach along the way, and then when Von Baden supposedly shoots the ‘robber’, the ladies are supposed to trust him. Bonnie and Miss Prynne hand over their pieces of the drawings, thinking they will be more safe in Von Baden’s hands, but Peg refuses to give hers up. Von Baden then pulls his gun on her and insists. The Lone Ranger is nearly able to overpower him, but by this time, Garth has caught up and they overpower the Lone Ranger and throw him off the stagecoach. Tonto shows up with Silver, and they are able to get ahead of the stagecoach, so that the Lone Ranger can board and overpower Garth, and then Von Baden, leading the arrest of both men. Miss Prynne and the girls then start out for Kansas City again, this time with sheriff’s deputies accompanying them. 3/5/22
• 040. Man Without a Gun – 6/15/1950
  • The Lone Ranger and Tonto happen upon an overturned stagecoach, the possible victim of an Indian attack. They find the driver dead, but with one gun in his holster, a fact that the Lone Ranger finds strange since Indians usually take the guns. They identify the arrow as belonging to Chief Red Hawk’s (Ralph Moody) tribe. As they are investigating the scene, they are fired upon from behind a rock. It turns out to be a young white man named Jim Douglas (Dick Jones), who is traveling back home from St. Louis because he is dissatisfied with living with his aunts and wants to join his father Henry (Eddie Dunn) again. The Lone Ranger forgives Jim for firing on him under the circumstances, and he and Tonto escort him to his father’s. Henry confesses to Tonto that he only sent Jim away to keep him safe from Red Hawk, who is looking for revenge after a white man killed his brother. One of Henry’s neighbors, Thomas Gorham (James Harrison), a man who carries no gun, has arranged a posse and wants Henry to join them, but Henry is reluctant because he knows they will massacre Red Hawk’s men, which might start more Indian uprisings. Gorham claims that the Indians cut his fence and slaughtered his cattle. The Lone Ranger goes to see it and finds a small section of beaded necklace, and then heads off to talk to Red Hawk himself. On the way, he is overtaken by Red Hawk’s men, but when Red Hawk learns who he is, they speak in peace. The Lone Ranger is suspicious of Gorham because he finds out he does carry a knife, and also finds that the necklace piece he found matches Red Hawk’s, and was cut down to the size of a bracelet, meaning several pieces of the necklace could be planted at different supposed Indian attacks. Sure enough, Gorham discusses with his men how his henchman Slack (House Peters, Jr.) had actually staged the stagecoach attack, failed to take the driver’s guns, and left behind small pieces of the necklace, all so they could drive Red Hawk’s tribe off the land which contains a gold mine. He then stages a fake Indian attack on Henry’s property, where he kidnaps Tonto and Jim. The Lone Ranger is ambushed and shot at by one of Gorham’s henchman, but the Lone Ranger plays possum and winds up ambushing the henchman and heading back to Henry’s place. Gorham gives Slack the go-ahead to kill Jim and Tonto, but the Lone Ranger, who they thought was dead, arrives in the nick of time and saves the men. They are able to subdue and apprehend Gorham and all of his men, and then turn them over to the Sheriff (Bob Kellard). 3/5/22
• 041. A Pardon for Curley – 6/22/1950
  • The Lone Ranger tries to take in a criminal named Curly Bates (Douglas Kennedy), who has robbed a train by de-railing it, which cost the life of a woman. Curly laughs at the Lone Ranger and tells him that he had already been sentenced for that crime, and had been pardoned for that and all other crimes after breaking up a jailbreak. Furthermore, he is headed to the town of Brownsburg, where they currently are holding a large abundance of gold in their banks. It turns out that the jailbreak plan was orchestrated by another criminal in town named Sam Farnol (Stephen Chase) and his wife Belle (Marion Martin). However, Curly finds out that Farnol had planned for Curley to be killed in the jailbreak. When he arrives, he knocks out Sam. He also tells Belle that the Lone Ranger is on his trail and if they try the robbery before they get rid of him, there might be trouble. Belle then stabs Curly, and sets up Tonto for the crime, knowing the Lone Ranger will come looking for him. Sure enough, Tonto is arrested by Curly and his men, criminals Slim (Paul Hogan), Tonopah (John Cliff), and Hogjaw Mullins (Dick Alexander). The Mayor (Harry Harvey) will not allow that Tonto be lynched, so he is thrown in jail. Tonto sends his horse to the Lone Ranger, who knows there is trouble and comes looking for Tonto. He figures out that Sam isn’t dead after all, but he is dying and talks to the Lone Ranger, and he tells him the plan to get the criminals behind badges and then rob the entire town of its money, and also names Belle as his killer. He goes to see Belle, and she pretends that she wants him to help Tonto, and that they imprisoned him as a scapegoat, while he knows she really is sending him to the jail to be ambushed. She heads back to see Curly and tell him that the Lone Ranger is in town, and that Sam is still alive. She is scared that Sam will come after her, but Curly refuses. When he refuses, she turns to Hogjaw and asks him to kill Curly before he double-crosses them all. Hogjaw has the Mayor tied up in a desk, and he overhears all of Belle’s words about what the gang is doing. Hogjaw agrees to shoot down Curly. One by one, the Lone Ranger picks off all of Curly’s men, then he knocks out Hogjaw and frees the Mayor. He sends the Mayor to get the honest men in town and round up all of the men with badges. The Lone Ranger then goes after Curley, and overtakes him in a fight and knocks him out, while Tonto grabs Belle through the prison bars and keeps her held at bay. The Lone Ranger throws them all in the jail cell, and turns them all over to the Mayor to handle for their crimes. Belle is petrified to be in the cell with Curly, since she double-crossed him. The Lone Ranger and Tonto sneak off, and Curly then tells everyone who the Lone Ranger really was. Earle Hodgins is the Undertaker. 7/2/22
• 042. Eye for an Eye – 6/29/1950
  • Convicted felon Clay Durfee (David McMahon) gets some bad news from the prison warden (Steve Clark): his execution has not been stayed and he will hang as sentenced. Clay vows that his brother Stark Durfee (I. Stanford Jolley) will break him out. Meanwhile, Stark and his henchmen Blue Wilson (Johnny Day) and Tug Kennedy (John Cason) are planning to do just that. They realize they can’t physically break him out, so they plan to kidnap the Governor’s sister Adelaide Standish (Dorothy Neumann) and his daughter Ruth (Sue England) and threaten to kill them if Clay is hanged. They track down their stagecoach and go after them. shooting the driver, but the Lone Ranger and Tonto spy their dirty work and are able to chase them off, rescuing the ladies. They all visit the Lone Ranger’s Mexican friend Jose Morenga (Chrispin Martin), and he helps disguise all four of them in Mexican outfits, so they can head to the State Capitol unfettered. However, when Stark spots Jose with the Lone Ranger and Tonto’s horses, he catches on to the ruse, and sends him men to ambush them. They manage to knock out the Lone Ranger and Tonto, and are about to kill them, when the ladies commandeer their stagecoach and try to escape. They are caught and brought back to their hideout. The Lone Ranger and Tonto catch up with them at the hideout and are able to surprise attack Blue and Tug and knock them out. However, the Lone Ranger is not so lucky with Stark, who spies him in the mirror and gets the leg up and holds him at gunpoint. Adelaide feigns fainting and literally pulls the rug from under Stark, and then the Lone Ranger overpowers him. He gets them all tied up, and Jose and the ladies haul them in a stagecoach to see the Governor. 7/5/22
• 043. Outlaw of the Plains – 7/6/1950
  • During a severe drought, the Lone Ranger and Tonto encounter two men, Clem (Jay Morley) and Sam (Bernie Marcus) in the desert. Sam has been shot by cattle rustlers, and Lone Ranger is able to gain their trust despite wearing a mask. In the nearest town, Sheriff Lem Shattuck (Jack Lee) criticizes the rustlers for robbing men of their cattle in broad daylight and then leaving them alive to tell the tale. In the past, he had been able to convince victims that their herds had likely roamed off to find water, elimination suspicion of foul play. While the Lone Ranger tries to track the rustlers in the dry dirt, Tonto heads to the nearest town to see the Sheriff and ask for help with a posse. Shattuck tries to delay him, and tells him that he got the story already from Clem and Sam. He finally agrees to meet with the Lone Ranger, Clem and Sam, and other victims of the rustlers. The men are ready to gather the posse, but the Sheriff puts them off until the next morning. The Lone Ranger and Tonto ride off the Sheriff, who convinces them to get started without the old men from the posse, explaining they will have a better chance at capturing the rustlers. The Sheriff then finds the rustlers Bill (Steve Dunhill) and Joe (Bert Arnold) at their hideout and tells them to kill the Lone Ranger and Tonto. The manage to ambush the Lone Ranger and shoot him, but Tonto captures him at gunpoint. However, when they overpower Tonto, the Lone Ranger revives himself and joins the fist fight and they knock out Bill and Joe. The Lone Ranger sends Tonto to get the Sheriff again, and when he returns, he sees that the Lone Ranger is tied up. However, he is merely playing possum and has the gun in a free hand behind his back, whereas Bill and Joe are tied up at the legs. She Sheriff pulls his gun on Tonto and admits his crimes before he realizes that the Lone Ranger has the upper hand. The Sheriff says they have no witnesses but doesn’t realize that Tonto has also retrieved the townsmen who have heard everything. The Sheriff makes one more attempt to escape, but the Lone Ranger is able to defeat him in a fist fight and hands him and his men over to the townsmen. Stanley Blystone is townsman Ray. • 044. White Man’s Magic – 7/13/1950
  • Sioux tribe member Standing Tree (Bill Ward) sees a freshly dug area in the ground, and when he goes to investigate it, he is stabbed in the back and killed by Sergeant Pala (Lane Bradford), a member of the Indian police and only part-Indian authorized to have a gun. Pala goes to see Ira Boles (Bill Kennedy), who has smuggled in guns and buried them, and plans to start an Indian uprising causing them to lose their land because of the peace treaty. He will then get a share of the money made by the Empire Land Company. Pala had buried the guns and was out laying poison around the area to keep the coyotes from digging them up. The Lone Ranger and Tonto happen up the body of Standing Tree and are able to deduce from tracks and clues how he had been killed. Pala has some members of the tribe stirred up and ready for violence, but the chief White Eagle (Ralph Moody) has been speaking peace to his tribe. Meanwhile, an American tourist named Antoniette ‘Toni’ Carver (Jane Frazee) has come onto the reservation and gotten permission from White Eagle, as well as the Federal agent Colonel Stacy (Pierre Watkin), to paint a portrait of White Eagle. The medicine man Red Moon (Charles Stevens) warns Chief White Eagle that the white woman brings bad medicine. The Lone Ranger and Tonto continue to investigate, and they find the buried guns. The Lone Ranger decides to remove the gunpowder from the bullets and then re-bury them, then notify White Eagle what they find so that he gets the credit for finding them. Boles sends Pala onto the reservation to poison the Chief by dropping poison into his food. He does succeed to kill him, and Pala convinces Red Moon and others that his death was the result of Toni stealing his soul into the painting. Since Tonto shows up right after, they also hold him in the prison. The Lone Ranger comes to the prison where he overhears Pala and Boles discussing their plan to make it look like Tonto is trying to escape, and their plan to kill him. The Lone Ranger holds the men and gunpoint and frees Tonto, but Red Moon shows up and turns the tables. Boles sends Red Moon to get the guns and arm his tribe. The Lone Ranger and Tonto rally and overpower Pala and Bulls. They head back to the reservation where Red Moon and his men plan to kill Toni. When they show up to rescue her, the men try to shoot them but their bullets will not fire. The Lone Ranger claims that they are led by an evil spirit, and that the spirit of White Eagle is protecting them. The Lone Ranger then reports everything to Colonel Stacy, and explains that they Indians were victimized by Boles and Pala and that no hostile act occurred against the U.S. Army. 10/26/22
• 045. Trouble for Tonto – 7/20/1950
  • The Lone Ranger and Tonto witness a man named Terry Baxter (Robert Arthur) scuffling with the Indian Black Eagle (Russ Conklin), when Baxter is able to steal Black Eagle’s weapon and shoot him. Since Terry’s hands were tied, they assume that he was acting in self-defense. He explains that his father is Wayne Baxter (Lyle Talbot), owner of 22 bank, and that earlier his father’s assistant Thad Kendall (Byron Foulger) had betrayed him and with Black Eagle’s help had tied him up, sending him with Black Eagle to be used as a hostage for the notorious criminal Buck Fargo (Gene Roth), who plans to rob his father’s banks and wants him to stand down with his security at the risk of having his son killed. Since Fargo has never seen Black Eagle, Terry agrees to ride along with Tonto, who will pose as Black Eagle, and then Lone Ranger and a posse will ambush Fargo when they attempt to rob a bank. The Lone Ranger then goes to see Terry’s father and brother Glenn (Bill Ward). He explains what happened and the plan to stop Fargo. Just as expected, Fargo comes to see Baxter and tell him what he needs to do to see his son again. Kendall sends a good luck ring back with Fargo to give to Black Eagle, who feared that without his charm he would never make it to his destination alive. Fargo gives the ring to Tonto, but it is much too big for him, causing Fargo and his henchman Finch Curston (Jimmy Dundee) to realize that Tonto is a phony. In a panic when they are caught, Terry reveals Tonto’s name, one that Fargo knows as being the partner of the Lone Ranger. He rides back to Baxter to tell him that he is on to the trick, and now demands that the Lone Ranger goes with him. He plans to hold him, Tonto, and Terry as hostages, and will kill them if his men are stopped when they try to rob the bank. Before they leave, Fargo takes a look at the Lone Ranger’s face under his mask. When they arrive back to the the hideout, he shows Custon the Lone Ranger’s face as well. Terry is surprised to see that it is actually his brother Glenn under the mask. The real Lone Ranger then arrives and he shoots Fargo in the hand and is able to overpower him, while Tonto captures Curston, even while his hands are tied. They are all sent to jail along with Thad Kendall. 3/6/23
• 046. Sheriff at Gunstock – 7/271950
  • After a gang of thugs led by Rocky Hanford (John Doucette) blows up a barber shop in the city of Gunstock, word gets back to the Lone Ranger that there trouble in town, so he and Tonto set out on a three-day ride to check it out. In fact, Rocky and his henchmen Duke (John Hart) and Grizzley (Jack Kenny) are extorting money from business owners under threat of destroying their businesses. Sheriff Bennett (Walter Sande) is hellbent on gathering evidence to bring in the Texas Rangers, but everyone in town is afraid to testify. His son Jack (Tom Irish) wants to help him, but his father insists that he continues his studies for law school. By the time the Lone Ranger arrives, Sheriff Bennett assures him that everything is alright in town, and the rumors about businesses being extorted where just rumors after all. The Lone Ranger doesn’t believe he is telling the truth, so he disguises himself as an old man and goes to work at the cafe of Mrs. Sarah Miggs (Mira McKinney), one of the women in town who does all she can to stand up for Bennett. As an old man mopping the floor, the Lone Ranger overhears Sarah accusing the Sheriff of being bought off by Hanford, and also Hanford extorting the money and raising his prices for Sarah. A week later, the Lone Ranger returns as himself and tells the Sheriff what he knows and insists that he bring in the Texas Rangers. When the Sheriff adamantly refuses, the Lone Ranger finally realizes that Hanford has his son and is afraid to make any move for fear that he will be killed. A note from Jack where he has added the letter R to his signature and removed a T from his last name is a clue that the person holding him captive is Hanford’s henchman Rod Turner (Sailor Vincent aka William Vincent). Tonto goes to see Hanford and tells him that Turner sent him with a message to come see him. The plans is to ambush him on the way, but Hanford doesn’t believe him and brings him along as a hostage, having his other men ride behind to make sure they aren’t followed. When they arrive and Turner says he’s never seen Tonto before, Hanford plans to kill Tonto. However, he is interrupted when a keg of lit dynamite is left outside the cabin. Hanford sends Tonto to diffuse it, but he escapes as the Lone Ranger shoots Hanford’s hand through the window. The Lone Ranger and Tonto overpower Hanford and his gang and has them all thrown in jail. Fortunately, Hanford still has enough money to return all of the money that he had extorted. 3/6/23
• 047. The Wrong Man – 8/3/1950
  • Sheriff Barnes (Paul Maxey) and his friend Jess Latham (Don Beddoe) visit the home of John Meredith (Richard Crane) and arrest him of the murder of Judge Scoville due to Meredith’s gun being at the site of the murder. When the Lone Ranger and Tonto hear from two boys that there was going to be a ‘necktie party’ for Meredith, they get involved to make sure he gets a fair trial. They head into town and warn the Sheriff that they are not going to allow a lynching. Meredith claims that he was engaged to Scoville’s daughter Alicia (Nan Leslie) and was trying to prove himself worthy to marry her, even though the Judge resisted him because of his criminal record as a rustler from when he was a teenager. The Lone Ranger brings Alicia to see Latham and the men in his posse, Lawson (Bill Ward), Carter (Walter Shumway), and Burbridge (Ted Adams), and asks them to wait until the Lone Ranger gets back with the judge. The Lone Ranger sends Tonto to go to Booneville to go get an impartial judge. Meanwhile, it becomes clear that Latham’s son Ted (Glen Vernon) is also in love with Alicia, and it was him who killed her father when he said that Ted wasn’t good enough for her. Letham tells Ted to leave town until things blow over but promises him that he will make sure that Meredith gets strung up. The Lone Ranger tracks Ted and, under fear of being shot, he confesses that he killed the Judge. The Lone Ranger brings him back to confess to the Sheriff. However, when he returns, Ted tells the Sheriff that the Lone Ranger threatened him at gunpoint to confess. Jess Latham follows Tonto and knocks him out as he gets near Boonesville, then ties him up and leaves him in a cabin. The Sheriff wants to talk to Jess, but Jess’s housekeeper Letty (Almira Sessions), tells him that he is away. The Sheriff decides to hold onto Ted and heads back. Before the Lone Ranger leaves, Jess arrives home, and Letty tells him that the Sheriff took him to the jail. Jess tells the Lone Ranger admits that he was only trying to help his son, and that he has stopped Tonto from bringing back the judge. Latham accompanies the Lone Ranger to get Tonto, even leaving his gun behind, but when they arrive at the cabin, he double-crosses the Lone Ranger and tries to fight him. He is overpowered and the Lone Ranger knocks him out. Back in town, Sheriff Barnes frees Meredith from the jail and tells Ted that the bullets that killed Judge Scoville came from his gun and not Meredith’s. • 048. The Beeler Gang – 8/10/1950
  • The Lone Ranger and Tonto spot a man from the Beeler gang dropping off a ransom note in the desert, indicating that if Sheriff Bert Lawson (Robert Rockwell) doesn’t pay them $10,000 and resign his position of sheriff, they will kill his young son Tommy (B.G. Norman), whom they have kidnapped. They go to see the Lawson and his frantic wife Laura (Beverly Garland aka Beverly Campbell) to tell them they’d like to help. Lawson thinks they are part of the Beeler gang, but when they show Laura a silver bullet, she recognizes him as the Lone Ranger because of the stories that her Uncle Jim had told her about him. When the couple tell the Lone Ranger that Tommy had a bad cough, cold, and fever when he was kidnapped, the Lone Ranger comes up with an idea to find him. Meanwhile at the Beeler gang’s hideout, Stan Beeler (Hugh Prosser) pontificates to his gang members Lefty (George Slocum) and Pete (Fred Graham) about how he will take over the job of Sheriff and become a man to reckon with. Another gang member named Joe Ward (William Haade) has taken a liking to the boy and heads into town to get some cough medicine. Tonto has staked out the general store in town, while the Lone Ranger is in disguise with beard and glasses and sits in the drug store drinking coffee. The involve the store proprietor (Ralph Peters) and drugstore waiter (Tim Graham) to point out any strangers who come in. When Joe shows up, Tonto hears him asking about cough medicine, so he heads over to the drugstore to inform the Lone Ranger. Since Joe is a stranger, they then have Lawson come into the drugstore and confront the Lone Ranger, insisting that he is a doctor who was working with another gang. When Joe hears this, he invites the Lone Ranger to come back to the hideout and check out the boy and the gang members, who may have contracted typhoid from the boy. Joe notices that Tonto is following them, so he manages to lose him. When he gets to the hideout, he secretly tells Tommy to be ready to escape out the window and leave on his horse during the night. With the potential for illness in the house, Stan sends Lefty to deliver another note to Lawson demanding he resign and pay the ransom earlier. While in town, he overhears the Lawsons and Tonto talking about the plan. He rushes back to the hideout to tell the others, just as the Lone Ranger and Tommy are escaping. The Beeler gang follows them, and they wind up in a shootout. Tonto shows up and helps even up the odds, and they are able to overtake the gang and return Tommy to his parents and sends the gang to lock-up. 8/25/23
• 049. The Star Witness – 8/17/1950
  • The Lone Ranger and Tonto decides to stop by Mineral Wells to meet up with their old friend Sheriff Jim Hollister (Charles Watts). Meanwhile, on the property of Sam Williams (Henry Rowland), and old man named Pete Bailey (William Vedder) finds that there is gold on the property. He tells shady characters Dave Beutel (Ray Bennett) and Nat Gorman (Gene Evans) about the gold in hopes that they can find a way to acquire the land so that they can all split the gold. However, Bailey decides to shoot Williams in the back and keep the gold for himself. Sam Williams’ son Johnnie (Michael Chapin) witnesses the kill but doesn’t make himself known to the killers. He heads home and tells this to his grandmother (Sarah Padden) and father, but they think he is lying so he can find an excuse to skip more school. The Lone Ranger find the boy as well as Johnnie’s squirrel gun. They head into town and meet up with Sheriff Hollister and his Deputy Bud James (Clarence Straight) and tell them what they found. The Lone Ranger sees Johnnie sneaking out of his house instead of doing his homework, and he finds out from the boy about what he witnessed. The Lone Ranger thinks they might be able to smoke out the killers if they get the word out that an Indian spotted him killing Pete Bailey. They hide Tonto in the local hotel, and the Lone Ranger and lawmen stay there with him. The word gets out, and Pete decides they should find out where the Indian is staying. In the meantime, Sam Williams learns that the story that his son told was indeed true. When he discusses this with the local bartender, Beutel and Gorman are in the bar to hear the conversation. They decide to pay a ‘mistake’ visit to Tonto and see if it seems like he recognizes him. When he doesn’t, they assume that Tonto and the law had laid out a trap for them. They lay in wait for the boy to get home from school, and then they try to shoot him when he walks home. The Lone Ranger questions Sam about who was around when he was having the conversation, then heads directly to the Williams house. Bailey attempts to hold Johnnie as a hostage, but the grandmother tries to shoot them from behind a couch, but the rifle misfires. It proves to be enough of a distraction that the Lone Ranger is able to beat up Beutel, and the grandmother is able to hit Gorman over the head with her rifle. The lawmen show up and arrest the men, with Johnnie pegged to be the star witness in the case. The Lone Ranger tells Sam about the gold on his property, before sneaking away from scene. 12/4/23
• 050. The Black Widow – 8/24/1950
  • Tonto shows the Lone Ranger an article in the newspaper indicating that Silky Carter was released from federal prison after he robbed the Fort Adams payroll. He suspects that Silky had buried some of the money on Thunder Mountain and deduces that he will likely go try to retrieve it now that he is free. Meanwhile, a man (Michael Whalen) and woman travel by stagecoach when a group of bandits shoot and kill the driver and shoot the male passenger. The killers Crane (Mike Ragan aka Holly Bane) and Mat (Peter Mamakos) kidnap the man and then send the stagecoach on its way. The woman left on board is revealed to be a man (John Alvin) when he removes his veil. The Lone Ranger and Tonto rescue the ‘woman’, who claims to be Mrs. Nelson, from the runaway coach. The Lone Ranger then heads back to the scene of the attack, where he runs into a quirky man named Doc Hagen (George Pembroke) who is looking for a tarantula to study. It turns out that Hagen is the boss of the men who did the kidnapping, and they think they have captured Silky Carter. Hagen attempts to question Silky, but then realizes that the man they kidnapped was not Silky after all. He orders the men to kill the man and bury him. The Lone Ranger sends Tonto to investigate Doc Hagen, realizing that Hagen actually knew nothing about Tarantulas. The Lone Ranger goes to see Pedro (Tony Roux), the proprietor of the way station where both the veiled lady and Doc Hagen had been staying. He also questions Mrs. Nelson and orders her to raise her veil. He reveals himself to be Vic Mason, U.S. Deputy Marshall, and claims that he’s been trailing Silky Carter. The Lone Ranger tells Mason about Doc, and Mason identifies him as a double-crossing friend of Silky’s, who is now after the missing money. He and the Lone Ranger agree to work together to watch Doc, and then trail him if he gets any information out of Silky. After the Lone Ranger leaves, Mason hides out in Doc’s room and holds him at gunpoint when he returns. It is revealed that Mason is actually Silky himself. Silky tells Doc that the only reason he doesn’t kill him is because he wants to use him to help get rid of the Lone Ranger. The badge and identification that he showed the Lone Ranger had belonged to the federal agent that Doc’s men had kidnapped from the coach. Tonto trails Crane and Mat and sees them bury the real Vic Mason. He digs him up and takes the law vest he was wearing and shows it to the Lone Ranger, who deduces that he is the real Mason, and it is the real Silky who is masquerading as Mason. The Lone Ranger returns to Silky, still posing as Mason, who tells him that Doc and his men got hold of Silky and made him reveal the location of the money, and that Doc and his men are heading there. When Silky and the Lone Ranger arrive, Silky reveals himself and they all force the Lone Ranger at gunpoint to dig the money up, as he is also digging his own grave. Once he hits the money underground, Silky reveals that no one is getting the money except for him. Mat tries to shoot Silky, but Silky is too fast and shoots Mat. The Lone Ranger then tells them that Pedro had gone to get the Sheriff (Lane Chandler) and he will wind up back in jail the same way he did on Thunder Mountain. Tonto jumps from above and fights Silky, while the Lone Ranger fights Doc and Crane. Eventually the Sheriff shows up and arrests Silky, Doc, and Crane. Before the Sheriff can thank the Lone Ranger, he and the Tonto ride off once again. 12/4/23
