"You gentlemen aren't REALLY trying to kill my son, are you?" - Clara Thornhill, "North By Northwest"

walk3x.jpgI’ve always been proud that my first words came relatively early at about nine months and I began taking my first steps and walking alone at ten months and eleven months respecitvely. Proud as if these accomplishments came as a result of some intense training and unprecedented skill levels. The fact is that I was simply ready to it and from that point on whenever I was ready to do something, I simply would do it.

Above is a photo of me – as my black eye began to fade – navigating the stairs at our home on John Glenn. Below are frame grabs from a Super 8 film of me taking my first steps followed by two excellent action shots of my first unassisted steps – and then my butt heading towards the ground.

And four parting shots – three from a professional portrait session at 11 months of age where I’m wearing my checkered tablecloth / overalls, and the only picture of me that ever was and ever will be that is too cute for words.

  1. No professional portrait session. The photo with the checkered suit is on your diaper table in your bedroom. In the close-up photo, you are in your stroller.

  2. I was going to comment also that it was not a professional portrait session. That was when your Dad loved messing around with cameras and different types of shots – like the one of you with the beer pillow and in the frame twice – really neat and unique.

  3. Love the Super 8 frame grabs!

  4. Cool photos! I was slow to walk, but quick to read. Not much has changed 😉
