Brad's Musings and Meanderings

random acts of quoting

"Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?" - Bluto, "Animal House"

cubby2.jpgCubby O’Brien was one of only nine children to star as Mousketeers for the entire run (three seasons – plus a fourth which consisted of all reruns) of The Mickey Mouse Club from 1955-59. Cubby was also distinctive as being the only musical Mouseketeer who was permitted by Disney to be shown on screen playing his instrument. Closely associated with his drums, Cubby actually went on to be a professional drummer later in life.

I hadn’t had much of an opportunity to see much of the original Mickey Mouse Club during my lifetime (with the exception of the Disney Treasures DVD issued the previous year which contained the first week’s worth of episodes), but I was still happy to purchase a signed photo directly from Cubby at the October 2005 Hollywood Collectors Show. He even drew a little caricature of Mickey Mouse – but not very well! – along with his autograph.
