I can’t honestly say that I’ve ever seen a single episode of the TV sitcom Family Affair, but it’s on my current ‘want list’. It was quite popular during its five-year run, being nominated for numerous Emmy awards. The actress who played Uncle Bill’s eldest niece Cissy Davis was Kathy Garver, and I had the chance to meet her at the Hollywood Show on Saturday, October 9, 2010.

Ms. Garver was a very nice and friendly lady, helping me choose which photo would be the most appropriate – pointing out her various stages of appearance in each. One was sexy. One was shy. One was alluring. These were her words, not mine. In the end, I chose the cast shot of the kids from Family Affair seen at the top of the posting. I gave her my $20 and she signed the photo for me, also posing for a nice picture with me.

One of these days, I’ll get around to watching the show and I’m sure my encounter with Kathy Garver will mean all the more.

  1. I don’t know if you remember seeing it in my collection, but I got a photo of her with her tv family and also a photo of her with Charlton Heston in the Ten Commandments. She has a small part in that film as a little girl.

  2. “Family Affair” was a good show–it was funny and sentimental. Lots of warmth and charmth, as somebody used to say.
