ae4After many years of preliminary dating, my step-brother Bryan finally took it upon himself to get hitched to the very nice and lovely Erine Jennings. The wedding took place at Carillon Park on Saturday, September 12, 2009. This was my second wedding of the year and it too was an outdoor affair. And it too was remarkably brief. There was a bit of music, the procession of the bridesmaids, groomsman, and the bride, a short reading, some incessant car alarm going off, the vows, and that was that. Twenty minutes later Bryan and Erine were hitched.

Pre-wedding text messaging. Something about the bridesmaids…and a broom closet…

Conveniently, the reception itself was located in the building directly behind the spot where the couple read their vows (which they had written themselves). It looked to be a promising reception when there was a keg of beer in the entryway being served by an attractive gal behind the table. And not only that, but it featured talking Wright Brothers mannequins to boot.

Ashleigh and the Wright Brothers

Unlike Jacob and Lauren’s wedding which had name tags so the losers wouldn’t end up without a table, this one did not. Therefore I nearly ended up without a table, when Ashleigh and Denise didn’t save me a spot. I sulked enough until they all made room and then I grabbed a chair from some other poor slobs’ table. That’s what I get for filling up on beer, cheese, and crackers before claiming my spot.

Sitting with Megan and Adam, most of my attention was focussed on them and the incoming text messages on my phone, but I did pause to listen to the toasts and watch the cutting (and smearing) of the cake. Dinner was a great buffet with cut roast beef and turkey.

Me and Yaht…post-cake

I didn’t do too much burning up of the dancefloor, mostly because I didn’t want to be upstaged by Adam. He has apparently found his calling as a boogie boy, and took anyone who would listen to the dance floor to trip the light fantastic. I did however participate in the good old dollar dance.

Ashleigh had driven separately so left a bit before me. I took off a little after 10pm. It had been another nice wedding and family gathering – and thankfully the last wedding of the year. I do wish Bryan and Erine all the luck in the world and hope they have at least six years together. And possibly more.

  1. An awesome wedding and reception. One of the best in recent memory. Teaching Adam to moonwalk was pretty funny. Congrats to Erine and Bryan. I’m glad to see Bryan smiling so brightly. You can tell that they are a very happy couple, indeed!
